2-day shipping is free with Prime. I never got 2-day shipping when I didn't have Prime so I can't tell you how much it is, but I'm pretty sure I use it enough that my Prime membership covers the cost and then some. I can't imagine ever going into a store on release day and picking up a cd/game/movie when I can have it waiting on me when I get home from work.

Dont remember seeing this mentioned anywhere in here but the Lord of the Rings Trilogy is now slated for release on April 6th. I cant wait as this was one of the movies I had been waiting on so hopefully the info isnt just speculative.

Re: **Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread Part II**
Whats the biggest differences between the theatrical and the extended versions of the movies? I bought these on DVD when they first released and Im sure they were the theatrical versions so Im not sure what makes the extended version that much better.Comment

Re: **Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread Part II**
The first one has 30 extra minutes of footage, the two towers has about 40 minutes of extra scenes and the return of the king has 50 minutes of extra footage.Comment

Wow, I didnt realize that. Now Im stuck, do I go and get the extended versions on DVD knowing they will probably come out eventually on blu-ray or do I wait it out with the chance that they wont come out for a really long time? Things to ponder I guess.Comment

Re: **Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread Part II**
I would assume the extended versions would come out within a year of theatrical blu rays but I have nothing to base that on.

Personally, I'm going to hold tight on a purchase to see what they do. I have both versions on DVD and want the extended editions, but it would be nice to get the theatrical versions of the films as well. I will still rent this first edition when it comes out to see how awesome it will look.Comment

Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Blu-ray Next Year?
Posted July 27, 2009 10:06 AM by Josh Dreuth
New Line Cinema In an interview with Collider.com, director Peter Jackson gave some insight into the upcoming Blu-ray releases of 'The Lord of the Rings'. He was able to not only confirm what we already knew, that the upcoming Blu-ray release of 'The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy' would present the theatrical versions of the films, but also that the Extended Editions of the films would be available on Blu-ray next year.
According to Jackson, the studio has already spoken to him about developing additional extra content for the 'The Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition Trilogy' Blu-ray release. This new content would presumably be added to the content available on the existing 12-disc DVD box set for the Blu-ray release.
It was previously believed that the Extended Edition Blu-ray release would be held back until the theatrical release of 'The Hobbit', but Jackson's remarks seem to indicated otherwise. Time will tell, but to get a release of this magnitude completed in less than a year (assuming they would start after the November 3rd release of 'The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy') may be a little ambitious.MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies

I just traded independence day for The Gamer. According to online reviews, Gamer is an average movie but has demo worthy lossless audio. Considering I just upgraded my sound equipment, figured it was worth the blind buy to put it through a nice work out.Comment

Then you need to put in Terminator Salvation to baptize any new sound system. It is the bluray benchmark IMO. Movie is decidedly average but the audio is simply the best overall I've ever heard in terms of range and clarity and the bass is punishing and I mean that literally. It is non-stop and intense and never lets up and sounds incredible. If you're addicted to bass this movie is crystal meth for you.Comment

This excerpt about the audio in 'Gamer' has me
'Gamer' has laid down the gauntlet for 2010 early, with a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 mix that is sure to be considered among the best audio mixes of the year. From demo-worthy material to power for the sake of power, this track is flat unbelievable.
The opening sequence is, without doubt, one of the craziest, and not just looney crazy, but legitimately ape**** crazy, scenes I've had the honor to sit through. There's stuff going on everywhere, from each and every channel to the other, back and forth, forward and backward, with heavy bass roars and an incredible high range to boot. Simply put, it raises the basket to unreachable heights and wraps it in barbed wire.Comment

EDIT:
Here's the DVD talk review and now it does look like Terminator has some competition to the crown.
"Gamer is one of the most impressive sonic experiences I've heard on Blu-ray since Terminator Salvation. The action is always booming loud without any distortion to speak of, and more importantly, it's all presented with pinpoint accuracy. If you're sitting in a properly calibrated room, you're going to hear bullets, ricochets, and explosions exactly where you would expect them to. The effects are so full and realistic that you're going to feel like you're a part of the action. The low end of the track is just as impressive as everything else, as it frequently pumps out enough bass to make you truly feel like you're in a warzone, but it's so well represented that despite its loud nature, you'll never feel as if it's being excessive. The dialogue is flawlessly reproduced throughout the entirety of the film as well, and you'll never have a hard time hearing what anybody has to say. Considering how much of a wallop this lossless track has to offer, that's saying a lot. There isn't a single thing I can find wrong with the audio presentation for Gamer, and it's sure to become one of your demo discs when you want to show off your home audio system to some friends."Last edited by Seymour Scagnetti; 01-21-2010, 08:06 PM.Comment
