You guys need to stop sleepin'. The new album is pretty damn smokin', even better than the first one and that one was pretty damn good. Scandalous has more of a muddy-fried blues to it, but its still got that thick James Brown influence.

New Raphael Saadiq album coming out next week. I haven't listened to him before he did a cover of It's A Shame for the Levi sessions, but that hooked me. He released a daytrotter session today and the new songs are awesome.

I think his album has been out for a while now(leaked though). Haven't had a chance to listen to it though.

I know in the last couple of months, there's been some good R&B albums to drop from Trey Songz to Chris Brown to Miguel, who I've been bumping to work for the past week.

Tendrils, you should check out Saddiq's previous album, The Way I See It. It's an awesome album. Reminds me of the old Motown albums of the 70s mixed with some modern sounds.

I can't wait for this to drop. I've been a fan since the days of 3T, "Hey Little Walter, "Baby Doll", and this one takes it home for me."It Never Rains in Southern California". This guy is so talented its not even funny

You guys have any recommendations similar to Raphael and Black Joe Lewis? I really dig this "retro" soul/r&b stuff that's been coming up the past couple of years.

Noel Gourdin. Check him out. He has a pretty good sound. I haven't heard his latest album, but his single "The River" off his first CD is gold.

Anyone else listening to Frank Ocean? He's apart of the OFWGKTA camp and has been signed to Def Jam for some time now.

I was wondering when he would be making an appearance in this thread. His mixtape is incredible. I have had to burn a lot of copies for people that I played it for.

Mixtape always seems to find away back into the CD player. Figured I'd post it for those who may not have heard him yet.

I'm not feeling that Frank Ocean at all. Blah.

Anyway, finally got my hands on Raphael Saadiq's new album today, Stone Rollin'. Its awesome, really, really diggin' it. I'm hoping more people get back to the more organic Stax/Atlantic soul and Motown R&B styles.

I just picked this up this evening and after listening to it once, I'm just not feeling it. I knew it would have a throwback feel going in but nothing really jumps out at me as of yet. I had the same feeling when I bought the Bobby V cd but after a few play throughs its one of my favorite cd's right now along with Tank.

I'm sure RS will grow on me. Gotta drive to Indianapolis in the morning so it will get plenty of play then. I did check out the Musiq Soulchild cd and I'm really not feeling that one either.

Saadiq's new album is nuts man, I instantly fell in love it. Probably played it 50 times in the last three days.

This joint man, they don't make 'em like this anymore - or at least I thought.

I love old 60's and 70's soul so this album is like heaven for me. No clue Saadiq was in Tony, Toni, Tone either.

They really don't make them like that anymore. Love the new album but I wouldn't expect anything less from him. Shame he is so over looked on a mainstream level. He was featured often in the past. I wonder why guys like Jay don't mess with him anymore.
