The Roundtables on the official website are a must see for The Shield fans. On one of them the cast discusses Aceveda's "violation", ending with Walter Googins (Shane) joking about how that could never happen to him and ultimately responding with, "Because of the teeth".

Yeah man, I watched that tribute and the one on that guys freewebs page (which is even better IMO) a bunch of times when I've been drinking and it's just so sad. it's like a real person died, LOL...

for the first time last night I actually laughed at the shield. When the guys were yelling" spooky street fool", I just laughed out loud. It was so funny to me to see that 13 year old kid with gold teeth saying those things.

Well...it's a good portrayal of a kid coming into her own and probably harboring years of mixed love/disdain for a dad who essentially is never there. Now that she's old enough to hear, recognize and understand more of what her dad is truly about..... sounds like she decided to exact her own type of retribution. Apple not falling too far from the tree, eh?

Good lesson to us dads of daughters out there, no?

That was the Glenn Close season. Don't recall the specifics of the opening episode.

At the beginning, there's a bust on a stolen merchandise dealer and during the fray, one of the rookies shoots a dog that's biting him. Vic tells the kid that the commish or chief or someone's wife is big on animals and that the kid would have been better off shooting the person than the dog. When Glen Close arrives, the dead dog is positioned with pistol and Vic proclaims that the dog was reaching and that it was us or him. It's funnier in the scene.

IMO the Shield is the best TV show i've ever followed.

I'm not quite ready to put it above The Wire. Season 5 of The Shield is the best season of television history (or at least that I've seen), and Forest Whitaker during that season is bar none the greatest acting job in the history of moving pictures, but the first few seasons, while entertaining, weren't fantastic. It really depends on how they resolve Shane/Vic, Ronnie, Julien, and Aceveda and end Dutchboy.

The Wire had an advantage because the set up of the show wasn't geared towards an epic finish, while the Shield has backed itself into a corner where there needs to be a major ending. If it can deliver what it has built up, it could pass The Wire.
