Agreed, I can't wait until Camp leaks, but I am most def still going to buy it day 1.

I don't think I like Ambition very much... about to give it another listen, but wan't impressed yesterday when I listened to it.

I was hoping for more poetic type stuff though like at the end of Illest B*tch.
Definitely. His mixtapes always seem to be better, more poetic, then his two albums so far. Ambition is more of MMG Wale, but IMO that's still great.

Sticking with the Halloween theme, this came out during the peak of the "horror core" era of hip-hop (also the last year of hip-hop's golden age), and these guys were in the forefront of it. This track and video is still as creative, grimy, bizarre, and downright hilarious as it was when I first saw it. And the track still bangs to this day. A bonafide timeless classic.

Every year around this time I bump the Gravediggaz first LP where Prince Paul and Rza both did the tracks.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

6 Feet Deep is a great album -- easily my favorite from the Gravediggaz. Had to buy a CD version of it a few years ago after my tape got destroyed from being played too much. Prince Paul is the man. He's one of my top 5 producers of all time.

The Pick, The Sickle & The Shovel is good album in its own way, but I didn't like the idea of it having too much of a Wu-Tang Clan influence and style to it. Obviously a lot of this had to do with the RZA producing most of this album since Prince Paul left the group at the time this album came out. Now I definitely like the RZA being a part of the Gravediggaz and I definitely love the Wu-Tang Clan. However, I didn't want him to bring an overshadowing WTC-esque presence to this group.

An honorable mention of horror core is the Flatlinerz. Too bad there's absolutely noooo way I can get away with posting their videos on here, heh. Those dudes are like the Cenobites (think Hellraiser series) of Hip-Hop. Just look for the video for "Satanic Verses" or the one for my favorite jam from the group "Live Evil" on YouTube and you'll see what I mean. Viewer discretion is advised.

At any rate, this is the proper way to hang out on Saturday nights. Wildin' out in the streets with shades, flashlights, hoodies, and fireman jackets.

So finally, the long awaited sophomore album of DC's Wale is just about ready to drop and either solidify him as one of the brightest stars ...

Looking at the year up to this point, there's been alot of good music that dropped this year, especially in the last 7 months. Can't remember off the top of my head when this much music(quality wise)has dropped in a stretch like this because usually there would be one good album that would drop one month and then the next few months would suck but not so much this year.

First off let me start by saying in by no means a fan of Wale's music. With that said the review had a clear bias. He starts off his review putting down MMG. What did he and everyone else expect? Wale is in a different point in his career now. He is almost 30 years old and signed to arguably the most popular rapper outside of Lil Wayne. His new album will sell well. It will appeal to a large audience and make him a pop star. After this and the next sell well then maybe he will make the music people seemed to like so much. Right now he is in no position to do anything too far outside the lane MMG provides him. Plus you can always look out for mixtapes he releases. I do agree with the reviewer about Big Sean though.

11-1-11 Theory was a good mixtape, and it was after he had already signed. I knew the album wouldn't be a classic after I saw that he joined MMG, and the first few songs he had out after MMG were horrible leaving me with no expectations for the album, and I was ready to take him off my favorite rapper list. BUT then he put out 11-1-11 which not only left me pleasantly surprised, it left me with the feel that the album truly was going to be something special. Especially after one of his songs on the mixtape were he said "11-1-11 is the day were all the haters and naysayers..." But alas, the album imo was a flop. It all felt uninspired. I mean at the end of illest b*tch (which I didn't like) he had a meaningful little poem that was cool. Why weren't there more of that on the album? I don't want to here about him bragging about his rapping skills (which weren't displayed on the album), I want to here him spit real stuff. DC or Nothing and No Days Off were honestly the best songs on there.

Oh well 11/15 will still be a day to remember. Drake and Gambino!
