No one was trying to rate anybody and the discussion has nothing to do with the internet. The very same discussion happens daily at barbershops and among friends across America (I guess we can throw Canada in there too).

So what you're saying is we aren't allowed to point out Kendrick Lamar dropped a bunch of wack guest features this year in here anymore?

Anyway, Merry Christmas to the Rap/Hip Hop thread.

I won't pretend he can do no wrong or he's flawless but come on now. The guy singlehandedly blew up the game with one verse this year. That alone accounts for something.

And there's always going to be people who take their love of someone/something to another level, just as there's always going to be people who will take their hate (warranted or unwarranted) to another level as well. What I'm trying to say is it would just be nice to appreciate things that are actually good right now instead of talking a bunch of **** and then years later going "Man, remember how good Kendrick Lamar was?".

I can't even imagine what things would be like if we had guys like Pac, Biggie, etc in today's era. People would be shouting from the mountain tops how overrated or wack they are and would pick apart every verse they drop.

Yep, a bunch of wack guest features. I don't have the time, but if you do go back and listen to all his guest features. Then report back and type with a straight face that dude didn't drop a bunch of wack **** this year.

And I appreciate things that are good. But just because you put out good music, doesn't mean I can't call you out for the crap you put out too.

Nosetalgia, Love Game, Control, We Up, Illuminate, Collard Greens, and ****in' Problems were a bunch of wack features?

I definitely wasn't a fan of How Many Drinks or that Robin Thicke song but the good far outweighs the bad if you ask me.

Anyways, this is all personal opinions so it's whatever.

Maybe deficiencies is a bit harsh for what I think (Not for others I've seen/heard), but I do think that his delivery in songs makes people dick ride him a bit harder than they should. I think Pusha T had a better verse on Nosetalgia, but I'd be hard pressed to find anyone I personally know to think the same way because of those couple lines at the end of Kendrick's verse. The whole song is great though, don't get me wrong.

But a lot of the time whenever he gets that aggressive tinge in his voice or switches his flow up a bit mid verse, people jump up quick to proclaim that he was the reason the whole song was hot.

An example of him doing something "different" that makes people think he made the whole song is one of the ones BlueNGold just mentioned with "Collard Greens." People (that I've heard) will go out of their way to say Kendrick killed that verse because just because he stood out with the Spanish part of the verse.

PUSHA VERSE 1 ON NOSETALGIA IS VERSE OF THE YEAR AND IF ANYONE DISAGREES THEY CAN COME DOWN TO VA AND FIGHT ME IRL

JK but it is verse of the year though. I had a dude tell me he couldn't believe Pusha T could "keep up with" Kendrick on that song...I almost slapped the **** out of him. Pusha's been putting out dope verses since before anybody had any idea who the **** Kendrick is lol

Anyone give Knock Madness a listen? Thoughts? Big fan of it myself.

Kind of crazy that TDE plans on dropping 6 albums in 2014 too. I don't foresee that happening. I say 4. Q with Oxymoron, Ab-Soul with the assumed Black Lip Pastor, not sure if Isaiah Rashed (quickly becoming a favorite of mine), will drop and album on top of Cilvia the mixtape, SZA could do hers, but I don't see a Kendrick album this soon, probably early 2015, and Jay Rock is a wild card, never know what's going on there.

Um, yeah, surprised we didn't get end of the year lists from you guys. I'll go ahead and speak on mine, feel free to add to the best of 2013.

Favorite album: Run the Jewels - Run the Jewels. Coming in, I thought it was going to be Pusha T, but this is complete. The European deluxe edition adds to an already crazy release. My next up would be "because the internet" from Gambino.

Favorite mixtape: Curren$y - New Jet City. Can't believe it held the top spot for me all year. **** is dope. Next up is probably "Life Changes" from Casey Veggies.

                                Favorite verse(s)
: The most expected answer I'm guessing is Kendrick's "Control" verse, but I actually like a couple of verses from his TDE label-mate more. I thought Jay Rock killed on the "U.O.E.N.O." remix and the remix to Isaiah Rashad's "Shot You Down". I can't say, "Best" but definitely two of my favorites.

Favorite track: Black Hippy - U.O.E.N.O. Love the beat, and all four of them dudes went in on it. Way better than the original IMO. "Nosetalgia" from Pusha is next up.

Favorite newcomer: Continuing the TDE trend, I gotta go with Isaiah Rashad. He didn't release a mixtape or an album, but the tracks that did come from him got me expecting big things from this guy.

Most slept-on release: Danny Brown - Old. Like Chance the Rapper, I get how his style and delivery can turn people off at first, but he doesn't stick to that nasally flow you hear from him on a lot of singles, although it's there too. This was released, I don't remember anyone talking about it, but it is nice, especially Side A. "Come As You Are" from Audio Push was dope too.

Feel free to add more categories or whatever.
                                PS: You guys are great.
