The Joe Budden talk from the other day inspired me to hunt down a complete collection of his work I used to have. Was lucky enough to find a working link. It's basically all his non album work up to 2007.

          Spoiler

Quite a few gems in there.

Wouldn't at all surprise me if 3000 quits halfway through the festival tour and we never see another Outkast album.

I liked it. Kinda disappointed there were no Young Chop beats on there, but it's a solid project. Boyz N Da Hood and Brother's Keeper are my favorites, there's a lot of good beats on here, to be expected from an Ace Hood mixtape.

French Montana needs to stick to doing mixtapes because that's where he shines at.

Coke Boyz 4 is pretty good for those who like a switch from the conscious, deep thought rappers out here.

I'm curious to see who does everyone think will emerge as legends of the 2010's in hip hop? Kendrick? J Cole? Joey Bada$$? Big K.R.I.T? Chance the Rapper? Schoolboy Q? Ab-Soul?

                            Also great signature DieHardYankee lol.

I think its a completely different era and the term legend will have to be viewed through a different lense. With how people access and listen to music now its going to be interesting how it all goes. For example Chance shows the potential to be one of the best artists of the next 10 years easy, but his style may not lend itself to complete mainstream success. The thing is, even if it doesn't, this isn't the 90s. Hell be more appreciated and revered than, say, DJ Quik or Goodie Mob were. Not a knock on Quik or Goodie's success (two of my favorites), but with the internet the "mainstream" is such a broad term and wont be as constricted as it was in the past.

The amount of praise and recognition an album with no radio play gets nowadays blows anything from the past out of the water (see: AcidRap).

Hell, Wayne (like it or not) is a legend of the 2000s, and while he had big albums, most of that status was built on his reign of the mixtape explosion in the middle of the decade. The Carter albums helped, but Wayne aint Wayne without Da Drought 3. The game has changed, and how we view artists is changing also.

But short answer, think you can pencil in Drake and Kendrick. Rest is up in the air.
