Predicted this outrage right here in this very thread.

In reality it's not even that big of a deal. The Grammy voters have zero impact on the genre. Let's not forget Diddy won in 98 over Life After Death, Wu Tang Forever and Supa Supa Sly. Kendrick Lamar was still able to perform on national TV and took full advantage of that.

The bigger issue is why awards for rap music are not televised. Kendrick Lamar not winning an award has zero impact on his career. No new fans come with him winning.

He doesn't sing as much as Drake but his flow and voice are extremely similar. Also, he's from Canada.

There's some streams/downloads out there of Isaiah Rashad's Cilvia mixtape/album/EP/whatever.

I still don't get the hype about those two.

But then again, maybe they're not for people like me.

              Why do you say this?

Even Drake or West winning would have been far better than Macklemore.
The Heist came out the same month as GKMC. Their album sales figures are closer tan one would imagine according to some research I just did. Mack is on the radio a lot more though.

It's boring as **** to me. Like, I don't know how to explain it. It's just very boring. Nothing ground breaking at all, and most of the songs have a really sleepy vibe. I had a feeling it would end up like this after hearing the few songs he'd released before, but this totally killed his hype for me.

It's the kind of album I can see myself burning one while listening to it, and just falling into the vibe and not remembering anything from the tape. I don't mind vibe music, but there's just much better stuff out there IMO.

I respectfully disagree. I love the bounce of the album. Great flow. Almost Infinite like. Short introduction album, good flow, good rapping. TDE strikes again.

Nah, it's not groundbreaking, but I didn't really expect it to be. I disagree with most everything else though, outside of the sleepy vibe point. It's not something you wanna play to get hyped up. I dig that though, real chill. Perfect for a day like today with the threat of snow shutting the city down and stuck inside with little to do; it came right on time for me. I can see it getting plenty burn with me.

If anything, I feel bad for Macklemore. To work your butt off for years and finally make it only to always feel you have to defend yourself against "hip hop purist". Many whom he likely respects and looks up to.

To be accepted with his skin tone you either have to be underground or Eminem.
Any popularity ever and you're immediately deemed "pop" or a sellout. So essentially rappers aren't expected to make money.

Clivia Demo sounds like what every Curren$y fan hypes his music up to be, except it actually is good mellow/laid back music and not just boring as hell.
