Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

I'll post this for the lazy people like myself. I donno why everyone thinks everything he comes out with now is a Wayne diss. Either way this song is better than most of the songs on Relapse, and like I said I love this beat.

Those are awful. Relapse was awful. I can't stand what he's doing with his voice nowadays. He's trying too hard with his lyrics as well. Just sad to see, like watching Jordan with the Wizards.

relapse had its moments, but it wasn't the greatest album. However, i don't see how any rap fan can't like "hell breaks loose."

Lol I guess I'm one of the few that loved Relapse 3 a.m. Stay Wide Awake Insane and Medicine Ball were some great tracks. Lyrically I thought he was on fire on this album not so much in terms of the actual content though.

The songs on this album are similar to all of his other albums. Although they are a lot more random and leave you with a lot of moments where you're like wtf is he talking about, but I feel that his flow and ability to deliver his lyrics has improved a lot from his older albums. His rhymes are a lot tighter now and his use of imagery has gotten better because of it.

On albums like MMLP his content was awesome because it was something I hadnt heard before. I had never heard a mainstream rapper be that loose and aggressive on tracks so it was a breath of fresh air. I feel like he's still that crazy and aggressive Slim Shady but now he's a lot less emotionally driven so he's just all over the place with his music.

So because of that it seems like he's not tryin anymore but I don't think that's the case from a technical standpoint he's better then ever. But hey that's just my opinion maybe he really has fell of and I'm just reachin for something thats not there.

My main beef with Em now is his voice. As someone stated earlier it sounds like he's tryin to hard to sound a certain way. Not feeling the sing song flow at all...he's still a wonderful lyricist..he should just spit and the rest will take care of itself.

Yea I can understand where you're coming from it does make his songs seem like some crappy pop rap. I look at it as a testament of how great he is though, even with this sing song style he uses now he's still better then a lot of rappers out there.

All the reports I read about Relapse 2 have said its definitely going to be more emotionally driven so it should be more of his old style. Hopefully it is because it would be great for his fans because he kind of alienated some of them with this new style.

Either way though I'm going to continue to listen because my favorite part of rap is the lyricism side of it. If he abandons that style of hip hop then I'm done with him for sure.

The State v. Radric Davis just leaked. I know everybody around these parts really don't like Gucci Mane, but I think it's solid. Not as good as his mixtapes (From Zone 6 to Duval or The Movie 3D), but alot more glossy and commercial without losing his uniqueness.

..... this is dissapointing .. Gucci Mane is the sole reason that real rap/hip hop is overlooked by most. Gucci mane does nothing lyrically but has the best production in the world. It is artists like Gucci/The New lil Wayne/Soulja boy/ETC that are taking the true shine away from the real upcoming artists such as - Charles Hamilton/ Mickey Factz / Kid Cudi/ ETC

100% Co-Sign , Mos Def-initely went off on that beat and absolutely murded it .. same goes for the never ending black thought- eminem was killin it but this whole relapse album makes me give him a unfair handicap..

I know. That's how I feel when I see him go so hard on Forever and kill it on the BET Awards. Those 2 things are why I have hope for Relapse 2.

I disagree. Gucci Mane has more charisma and mic presence than all those guys you named. He also may not spit complex metaphors or entendres but he is also pretty nice lyrically if you listen to him with an open mind.

Still, if you wanted to hear Gucci's best work, I wouldn't recommend this album (The Movie 3D is much better).

Gucci Mane has no flow ... his charisma is driven from his own self hype and whatever chemicals hes pumpin into himself , his presence on the mic only makes me want to fast forward through his verse with all the features that hes on. Ok. You obviously have your taste and I have mine.

But let's not act like Gucci Mane doesn't deserve the notoriety or production he's getting. He's been HUGE underground for years and then even when he got a deal, he's gained a much bigger fanbase because of his mixtape work.

People *gasp* like him, myself included. He definitely deserves this push.
