Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
He said long before the album came out that he would be doing quite a bit of singing.
I'm about to listen to the entire album but I've only heard 2 songs so far where it's mostly all singing, which are Shut It Down and the other one....think it was Find Your Love or something like that. I liked Shut It Down, the other one not so much.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

SMH This Drake Album ain't sounding too good so far. I just went thru my first go round with it and so far it's basically a poor man's Ja Rule CD with all this damn singing. Bout to give it another go round just to make sure that's not the case but so far...SMH.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Just finished listening to Thank Me Later.
I had a feeling I already heard most of the good songs off this album and I was pretty much right.
There's still some decent tracks I like on here like Up All Night, Thank Me Now, Miss Me and Fireworks is alright too. Basically all the songs where Drake is singing, aside from Shut It Down, I don't even think I'd give them a 2nd listen.
Like ex said, it's a pretty good effort but for the next album he needs to cut down the singing tracks to maybe only 1 or 2 and there's obviously still a lot of room for improvement when it comes to his lyrics.
EDIT: Thank Me Later leftover - You Know, You Know
Drizzy premiered a verse from this Kanye produced track last month during his San Fran show, but here's the Thank Me Later throwaway in full. It's tagged for now, but you know how that goes. karla via sermon Sidebar: Karla also says the "9am In Dallas Freestyle" will be mastered by 40 come June 15th as a bonus on Thank MeLast edited by BlueNGold; 06-03-2010, 12:46 AM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
First go round, I'm not feeling the album as a whole. There are a couple tracks I like (Over, Light UP, Fancy)but overall, it just seems kind of...I don't know, emo.PS: You guys are great.

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
I think the album is solid. None of the songs are really that bad (even the ones where he sings), but none of them really stand out either. I don't think people will skip that many songs on the album, but there aren't many that you want to listen to over and over. The album is basically So Far Gone, but not as good.Last edited by Blaxican8504; 06-03-2010, 04:26 AM.Comment

Here's a little taste of All City Chess Club for you guys. Just Bobby Ray and Lupe but it's straight yum nonetheless.

Janelle Monae is one of my favorite female artists right now and I think I might have mentioned in this thread that I was hoping they'd somehow make her a part of All City Chess Club. This song looks like it could be a step in that direction.Comment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Yeah the album is barely considered in the "rap" genre.
A few days later, I'm not really itching to replay any of these tracks. I'm still shocked that there was only one track with Wayne and no Trey Songz.
My favorite track is a singing one Shut it Down.
Also I guess there's a version of Light Up with L. Wayne coming soon.Comment
