Thats just terminology not catching up with the times.
Back then, the beat maker or whatever you want to call him (Tomatoe tomatoe) were actually at the session over looking things, tweaking, hiring the engineers.
Importantly, their contracts say songwriters and get credited as such.
But thats up for a different discussion...
Just wanted to point that out because I would say Dr Dre and Diddy are one of the greatest producers (hip hop/RnB; you can agrue for music in general) of all time yet Diddy never made a beat in his life and Dre started hiring people a long time ago.
Oh and executive producer doesn't have anything to do with the music side of things. He's all business. Almost like how Jay Z isn't really apart of gameplay for 2k13.
You'll also see executive producer a album...Never see executive produced a song.
Also songwriters get a bigger piece of the pie than a traditional producer. Its just the cool thing to say "Im a producer" it sounds more important than songwriter, more professional than "beat maker" and less lame than Composer

Plus, I wouldn't expect anyone on here to actually mention Diddy as one of their favorite Producers(Beatmaker)either LOL.#RespectTheCultureComment

Knew I would have got clowned for that one haha.
Oh and I forgot to name Jim Jonsin, (got him mixed up with The Runners) he somehow made an album with Wayne & Bird man listenable. Like Father like Son is one of my favorite Wayne Albums behind Carter I & II.
Anytime you make Bird man listenable you deserve a nod.Last edited by Jukeman; 08-23-2012, 07:21 PM.Comment

Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread
Not a fan of todays cookie cutter producers. Everybody today seems to be using the exact same drum kits. Only a few newschoolers with an original sound.
I didn't see anyone mention Timberland or did they? Probably one of the most thorough producers around. By thorough I mean consistent hit maker. If you ever see his name in the credits, you already know you're in for something different and special.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group)Comment

Yes Hopsins RAW album is real good. I love that song "nocturnal rainbows". It will have you thinking at the end. Plus I like how he took shots at famous rappers in the "sag my pants" song.
