Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

Illwill, only issue with Fab is he doesn't care. Fab has top 5 talent, but no drive anymore and hasn't for awhile.

Cam during Children of the Corn, and plus I'll always have a soft spot for Cam, was a top flight rapper.

        As for my opinions:

        - Fab is one of the best to ever do it, although his catalog isn't as strong as others.

        - Joe Budden the album was an extremely underrated album that deserved more recognition.

        - Although yes if Em was black he may not have gotten as much attention as he does, he still is clearly one of the best to ever do it. (when Em was a feature on a track, you had to listen to it, he stole albums with verses..)

        - Kanye is REAL GOOD.

        - Drake fell off hard, mixtape Drake had a ton of potential.

        - If Cassidy ever rapped about anything other than drugs and money, he might have had a spot in the top 10.

        - J-hood wasn't worth the hype, however, I do think had he stayed with D-block, he would have still been around at least.

        - I don't think there ever was or ever will be a 1.5 to 2 year for anyone like there was for DMX. His first 3 albums were classics, although the 3rd fell of just a tad. All are still in rotation now, just speaks on the timelessness of his music. His own craziness aside, he had a great delivery and you felt his emotions and love for the trade.

        - Had Pun not died, he would have taken over the game.

        - I also think Pac was a tad overrated, I don't think he is on the level of Biggie (and yes I consider Big the best) and some other guys. He is very talented and poetic, but not as versatile as others.

        - Biggie was out of this world at the time and won't be trumped no matter what, of course my bias is clear.

That's all I have for now.

Pre I'm a Hustla Cassidy, especially when it came to battling/freestyling, was a dude not to be ****ed with back in the early 00s.

I agree with that. He barely puts out music anymore. Last one was the TNC3 on Christmas. I loved the Soul Tape last year. All he does now is tours & shows. I would love a Soul Tape 2

            Early Cam was real good

Definitely agree with that. He had mad potential. But now is caught up with other ventures. Like alot of other rappers once they get mainstream, they go away from what made them hot.
            - If Cassidy ever rapped about anything other than drugs and money, he might have had a spot in the top 10.
Pre-Accident Cass was nice. Now he is very predictable.
            - J-hood wasn't worth the hype, however, I do think had he stayed with D-block, he would have still been around at least.
I think he just put out a mixtape(has pushed it back alot). I think he had a problem with Sheek Louch, but was dissing Kiss. I think he had a tape called "JadaPiss". He would have been still revelant if he didnt bit the hand that fed him

Exactly. I think he is one of the few to only have 2 platinum albums in the same year. But his lifestyle was his downfall

On to other matters. Jarren Benton. He rolls with Hopsin and his label Funk Volume now (IE Signed).

haha...i love his spirit and colorful ways...but he cant rap for shhhhh haha!! im still not sure if hes a joke to himself or if he really serious. he always acts like hes serious bout the rap game. he been hanging with souljah boy too long to steer that ship right even if he could. i dunno wat any of his bars mean...he be saying wateva can rhyme together..which is an odd step up cuz souljah dont even rhyme no more.

"i was in the game bout seventeen....bought a couple stocks outta palestine" WTF
