Be careful Johnny.... there's a lot of cussing and some sexual scenes... definitely not as kid friendly as the first one.

Yeah, this movie isn't very appropriate for children the entire way through. Even the bots don't keep it clean.

Which doesn't make any sense to me and is very disappointing because these are kids' toys. My children were bummed after I told them is wasn't appropriate for kids due to what I read in the reviews.

Although only slightly. Recall that this is an older generation of children toys. That generation has since grown up; today's children, while familiar with the concept, is not currently living with this theme of toys (along with Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, Mighty Max, or Hot Wheels). So in some respects, I wouldn't mind too much if they went a more "menacing" route with these bots, so that they grow up with us in a way.

Unfortunately however, Michael Bay is an eight-year old kid in a mid-40s body. He targets a specific demographic and does it for older people yet in an immature way. It's the worst of both worlds for our youth, and doesn't quite help out the older crowd that grew up with the toys either.

With that being said, I still felt he was far more mature in Transformers than he was in Revenge of the Fallen. I think he just let the concept get to his head a bit and really wanted to draw out the length with this one. I'll be surprised if he can fill in the holes of the action scenes well for the third one, because I can't see him being much more imaginative (not saying that's a good thing). Basically, this third one needs to be won over by its script, considering this past movie's overall premise and... for lack of a better term... demise.

I would appreciate a heavier emphasis on the Transformers themselves and shifting away from the humans a bit. I know that probably won't happen, but it would be really awesome to just get more focused on the Transformers. That would make for an even better movie to me.

Re: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Just got back from seeing it. Put me in the disappointed camp. IMO not near as good as the first one.

To long. To much dialogue/selling of the story which still made little sense.

Pushed the humor to much. The dogs, the mom all baked up, the new tech guy/Sams roommate just didn't work for me.

They showed a pretty cool looking new autobot, but he never did or said anything. None of 'em did except Optimus.

But, my kids loved it. And it was decent. Optimus is a bad ***!

That hasn't been confirmed. I read something yesterday that he said the media took that out of context and that if there was a 3rd one he would be back.

The company or whatever wanted the next one in 2011, and he wants to take a break, and put one out in 2012.

I've been clamoring for this for the longest. It's why I hated the first one.

See the thing is, when they started this franchise, they either needed to be in one boat or the other. Giving it a human element in the beginning, it was tough to bounce over to Cybertron in Revenge of the Fallen because it felt out of place with respect to the tone that was set in the first one. However, if these movies were almost strictly from the Transformers' points of view and we have some "Sam" that doesn't have Shia LaBoeuf cast nor is he a big leading role, then perhaps this sequel would have been slightly more appropriate... minus the college scenes and such.

So my son and I enjoyed it, but yeah, I was disappointed. Most of the complaints mentioned are mine as well: the length (my son got restless around the two hour point for a while), the comedy bits, etc.

Still, it's a great popcorn movie, and that's enough for me. I only see a half dozen movies or so in theaters every year, and as long as I feel I got my money's worth (which I do), I'm pretty happy.

No worries, Linty, my son can handle it.

We actually had quite the laugh with some other parents and teachers at his school about what our boy, regarded by many there as the "happiest, kindest, friendliest" kid they've met, has seen: Star Wars, three of four Indy's, LOTR, Harry Potter, etc.

Appreciate the concern though, and I DID notice a lot more language this time around. Kind of unnecessary in the whole scheme of things.

There are a very few films that I couldn't stop watching and this one is a rare one that held my interest. One possible scene where I had to look away was when that guy striped down to his underwear. Come on, Dreamworks, this is a kid's movie. I think we can do without the scene with the almost nude male rear end. Gross. Wolverine's movie failed to impress me in the slightest bit. This film is easily my pick for the best action movie of the year.
