Actually, I literally did steal Black Mask out of your mouth. I think you were the first person I read the idea from, and it made perfect sense.

I just need to see how Catwoman would be played in a light that doesn't appear too comical or have too much of a sexual appeal. It's gotta have that "realism" aspect, even more so than the Batman outfit. I even think the name is a little awkward for the Nolan universe, but whatever happens it can be pulled off very well.

Hell, my friend even explained a great way to bring in a Robin, but he said it over a year ago and I don't really remember. Rest assured, it won't look like the homo we've seen in Batman & Robin or the cartoon.

Nobody else here thinks Halle Berry killed the Catwoman character? I do. She killed it dead. I don't think many people want to see that character anymore.

I think Deadshot makes perfect sense in this story-arc.

Halle did kill the character but maybe if they can introduce Selina Kyle and keep her out of the catwoman costume for as long as they can and THEN have a reveal showing her as the Catwoman then it could work. The comics through the years have done a good job of making the Batman/Catwoman story interesting and psychological without being cheesy or filled with too much sexual tension.

That movie was years ago, anyone who actually saw it doesn't care anymore and judging by the lack of money it made, there are very few people who saw it.

Re: Christopher Nolan confirmed to be in development of third Batman film

Batman should be the star of the third film, the "villain" is not that important. Staying with the mob mentality and escalation would work fine. Maybe working in Catwoman as a foil too, though I suspect she would never be called Catwoman but just be some kind of a female cat burglar who plays both sides off each other. Maybe she takes some heat off of Batman and the mob sets her up to take a fall. With Maroney dead, the mob needs a new de-facto leader but it wouldn't have to be a popular Batman villain. Sure they could work something in with Scarface, Black Mask, Penguin, or even Clayface (Clayface being a nickname for an ugly or deformed face). Characters like Bane and Killer Croc could easily be used as goons if they wanted to go in such a direction (Bane would just be some roid-head, Croc a big guy with a nasty skin condition). And I wouldn't be opposed to the movie opening with Batman busting the Scarecrow again, for the sake of humor.

In the end, I hope Batman is redeemed in a some small way. Perhaps he isn't loved by everyone but at least cleared of murder. I also hope the Nolans approach this as the culmination of a trilogy without an emphasis being placed on setting up another film as I suspect Nolan, Bale, etc will be done with the franchise when its over. WB may not allow for that though and insist on some sort of cliff-hanger or at least a teaser similar to the end of Batman Begins so another director/writer can pick up where they left off.

I don't want Bane to be some useless goon, though. He's a better villain than that. I think Batman vs. Deadshot would be epic, especially given how everything is fueled by the mob in Nolan's universe. I would love to Catwoman or, at the very least, Selina Kyle. I have faith in Nolan - he won't throw in villains just for the sake of upping the number of known characters in his the film.

I don't know how anyone can think that Catwoman is an unrealistic name but Batman isn't.

Batman isn't realistic at all, but its Batman so the audience knows it has to suspend its belief to a point going in. The whole first film is dedicated to convincing you why you should believe a man would put on a cape and cowl, fight crime, and call himself Batman. I don't think the Nolans want to spend a significant chunk of a movie trying to sell us on why some woman would dress up like a cat and proclaim herself Catwoman, unless they just want to go the Joker route and make her insane.

Maybe they should do away with a costumed villain and do a direct copy of THE LONG HALLOWEEN. Hell, the Nolanverse is already fueled by organized crime might as well base a film entirely on that TPB.

The Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Year One, The Dark Knight Returns - all are already represented in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. A portion of The Long Halloween is even included in the Batman Begins special edition and cited as a major influence.

Yes I know but it'd be nice to see the whole "holiday killer" thing brought FULLY to the silver screen.

Ah well...I do want to see Robin brought into the Nolanverse though. Robin can be done very realistically and without camp. I like the idea of a troubled kid being a reflection of Bruce/Bats and him having to mentor the child. The problem of course is that it's nigh impossible to pull off having a 10 year old fighting crime on screen.

That and Bale said he won't do a film with Robin in it. I think Nolan said the same. I'm torn on the Robin character, but I don't think he's essential so he's best left in the comics.

Explaining Catwoman's name would be very easy, IMO. She's a burglar - make her steal high-priced items from museums/jewelry stores around Gotham and bam! GNC dubs her Catwoman.

I can go either way on Robin. It would be interesting to see, but I don't think a lot of people would take it seriously or look at it the wrong way. The Robin storyboard sequence for Batman (89) would have been a nice little cameo/intro.
