True, and Hathaway's no slouch body-wise either.

I agree with that as well. She can definitely fill out the suit well enough on her own and will bring a much more three-dimensional dynamic to the character than Biel would.

          Hardy as Bane is AWESOME.

Hathaway as Catwoman I'm fine with. Not exactly hyped about it, but not upset or confused either really. I like Hathaway, just not totally sold on Catwoman. But if Nolan wants it, then so be it.

This is my exact reaction to the Catwoman news.

As for Bane, holy ****. I didn't think Nolan was going to use him, so this was a surprise to me, and the fact Tom Hardy is going to be Bane is just awesome. Next to Two-Face, Bane has always been one of my favorite Batman villains, so this makes me happy.

                  Re: The Dark Knight Rises

I had that same reaction until I read this on BOF:

"I've long heard that Nolan and co. wanted to use Catwoman in a possible third Batman film -- IF they could find a way to use the character in a fresh manner."

The fact that they were only going to use her if Nolan could come up with a fresh take, so to speak, makes me excited to see what they do with her. Especially with Hathaway, who has a lot of range and can play the part multiple ways, I'm sure.

Tom Hardy as Bane is, basically, enough for a nerd-gasm.

I just don't know how you can make Bane interesting. Let's hope Nolan stays far away from the steroid aspect of the character.

Have faith. Anything Nolan does with Bane will be better than the crap we saw from Schumacher.

My concern with Bane is the amount of backstory needed if this film takes place immediately after TDK.

Joker needed no back story. He is. But Bane, at least the hulking maniac most know him for, definitely needs back story to explain his transformation. Is that glossed over quickly making it feel rushed or is it a 30 min snooze fest?

I'm sure Nolan will do his best but consider the amount of back story Harvey Dent got in TDK before he became Two Face for two seconds. Not many were happy with that. It ended up being ok because Harvey Dent was more important to the main story antagonist of The Joker.

TDKR, however, could lull if that back story becomes the central focus of the film's antagonist.

I'm still hoping for Hugo Strange to be the "main" villain. Unless they do Bane like they did Scarecrow. Ultimately, though, I want this film to focus back on Batman/Bruce Wayne like in Begins.

                            Re: The Dark Knight Rises

For those who can't wait to see Hathaway in a catsuit, don't hold your breath. I seriously doubt Nolan is gonna vamp up that character if his prior films are any indication. That would make the character too campy if she is simply portrayed as a sex kitten so to speak and totally goes against Nolan's film methods. That's why mentioning Biel is humourous because if you want Catwoman to be simply someone who looks the best in a tight outfit then you might as well start remaking the Burton movies again because acting ability doesn't count obviously.

No one can touch Julie Newmar as Catwoman anyways, it was criminal at how good she looked in that suit. Adam West must have had to tape himself down everytime he did a scene with her.
