I'm not...Clayface, if pulled off right, would be a badass villain in a movie. Just, no where near realistic and I don't think anyone could actually pull that off without looking pathetic.

I dunno if they can make it (shape shifting) work in xmen or heroes im sure they could make it work in a batman movie.

The script would have to be pretty cool though or like you said it would jsut look pathetic.

Very true about the X-men/Heroes examples.

But yeah, I don't think the "Vain actor who used a beauty product to look better and then became an addicted monster" story would be too...entertaining in a movie.

It sounds no more or less ridiculous then any other 'superhero' plot.

The difference between X-Men, Heroes and Batman is that the first two actually involve the use of super powers. Whereas Nolan's reboot of the Batman franchise is firmly grounded in reality, from Batman himself who is just an ordinary guy (albeit a physically fit genius with lots of money) to the villains he fights. Even the Joker, the most "supernatural" villain in the series so far, doesn't have super powers and instead employs traditional, realistic weaponry like guns and gasoline.

For all of those reasons, and having watched the way Spider-Man 3 was ruined by too many villains, too much subplot and too much absurdity, I would hope a third movie would concentrate on the underworld in Gotham and those who run it, like a Black Mask character or a Talia Al-Ghul. Rooted in reality and based in Gotham, which is the immediate area Bruce Wayne has been struggling to protect during the first two movies. That's really all you need in the way of villain power to make a great third movie and it would bring everything back to where Batman Begins started. Sometimes, less is more and I think a minimalist approach to the villain in the third movie would work very well.
              Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.
Dash: [muttering] Which is another way of saying no one is.

I think the third movie needs to be about Batman and his redemption. With in mind, the villain doesn't need to be a big name villain because he or she won't need to dominate the picture like the Joker did. I think a coporate or public service villain would work best, someone who gains the public's trust and Batman needs to expose him and bring him down to regain his fallen image. Two-Face would have been perfect, too bad he's apparently dead.

                  Exactly.

Saying that the new Batman could have shape shifting because Heroes and Xmen do is like saying Apollo 13 should have laser gun fights because Star Wars and Star Trek have them and they both take place in space too.

thats defintely NOT what i was saying but if you just want to read bits and pieces into the conversation then ok.

I wasnt even justifying the fact.

It all started as a joke.

Then it turned into saying that if Clayface was actually in the movie, they could do it because heroes and xmen did it without it looking too ridiculous.

Yeah - neither of us really want Clayface in the movie because it doesn't fit in Nolan's Gotham...but if someone could actually pull it off, it'd be cool.

If Zack Snyder were to do a Batman film/series, I think Clayface would be cool in that setting.

I disagree, ask a person on the street either of their names and they would not know who they were. They'd know their faces from "some movie" but not their names. Do the same for Eddie Murphy and everyone save for young kids would know who he is.

I'd say about 80-90% of people who would actually go see a movie in theaters would know Ledger and about 60-70% would know Bale before TDK.

Given that the only thing he's been in the last 10 years are flops and movies where he plays fat black women, I think Ledger and Bale would be far more identifiable in the younger generation.

i disagree even though his movies sucked people still went to see them. and since he was in Shrek the younger generation knows him from that.

Bale and Ledger wasnt as popular as Eddie Murphy and Bale will probably never be. I know people now who wouldn't recognize Bale right now if he walked in a room with a shirt that said "I'm Bale"

Christian Bale is far from being a house-hold name ala Eddie Murphy. The new Terminator movie will help spread Bale's name, but I don't really see him as being a house hold name.
