I'm also really curious as to why their window is only 70 hours. Obviously Ms. Hawking is using the pendulum to calculate the window when the O6 can go back to the island. But is this the only window? Will the island stop skipping in 70 hours time? And if so, why? Will Faraday somehow fix the skipping? Otherwise if it didn't stop skipping, she could just calculate another window when they could go back. But it seems like this is the last window available.

Also, Locke meeting Ethan in the past, just after the drug plane crash, may explain why the Others treat Locke differently and know he's special. They've already met him and they know he's moving through time. It was also interesting how Faraday recognized Desmond as "special" because he was on the island previously, but wasn't on the island when it moved. Therefore Faraday recognized him as the only person he could interact with in the past who wasn't part of the group that was jumping through time. Cool.

      Other questions....

      - Why is only Charlotte getting the bloody noses?

      - Who is Candle's baby?

      - WHY does the island skip? It seems quite possible that it might skip to prevent things from happening that can't happen, like when Ethan was about to shoot Locke.

      God I love this show.
I think Candle's baby is Miles. I'm on board with Faraday being Hawking's kid and I'm still trying to figure out Charlotte.

^ Miles is honestly my new favorite character since he was introduced. Im really hoping they do something with him that makes him even more special than he really is

Same reason that the dead doctor from season 4 washed up on the island before he was dead on the boat.

Re: *** LOST: Season 5 Discussion***

I really have no clue what half of you are talking about with plot holes.

First off, John Locke is not in the future and the past. I'm not sure how this is confusing at all. Everything on the Island is happening in 2005. Everything off the island is happening in 2008. Locke is on the Island because it's 2005. Locke is dead off the Island because it's 2008. This isn't a chemistry exam.

Second, the Losties are traveling through time. The Losties. No one else. Just the Losties. Alpert is thrown into the mix to show us this. Alpert is pretty much sitting outside of the movement of time, likely because he is part of the Island. That movement is independent of the Losties movement because they are simply traveling through time.

So, no Ethan didn't meet Locke months ago. He just met him when Locke jumped through time. And no Desmond didn't know Faraday before because he just met him when Faraday knocked on his door.

The reason Desmond gets a memory is because Faraday just implanted the darn thing and because Desmond is special. I know it sounds corny, but it's true. Desmond has always been special. We've known this since S3 when he started seeing things in the future.

Also, the dead Losties are going to stay dead because they are jumping through time. They are not just watchers. They are living the jump.

Re: *** LOST: Season 5 Discussion***

The thing that I find even more amusing about the Locke being in two time periods question is that Lost purposely went out of their way to please the confused fans by stating in bold letters "3 Years Later" and "3 Years Ago."

You can't get more obvious than that.

Very confusing, although very interesting as well. I think Daniel's mother is the woman Desmond saw in Season 2 (I think it was two). As soon as Daniel said see my mother at Oxford, I thought of her. With Ben talking to her at the end, that kind of cemented it to me. We'll see though.

One thing that bothered me is how did they know Desmond was in the hatch when they found it? I mean did Faraday know the exact period of time in which they were in?

Also the new "others" that had Sawyer and Juliette captive, they didn't have the normal Dharma uniforms. They were different. Not sure who these people would be.

Yea, they might not be DHARMA. They had specific clothing so I assumed they were. Maybe we'll find out.

I don't remember anyone saying that Desmond was definitely in the hatch. They only assumed.

Maybe another group before Dharma, just wondered if I was right about the clothing. Thanks for the clarification on their assumption. I thought that might be the case, wasn't sure. Need to watch this one again.

General question for anyone. Does the mouse and Mankowski dying tie in here to the time travel we saw last night? I need to rewatch that sequence, but it was brought to the forefront for me when Daniel was trying to convince Sawyer that it couldn't work the way he wanted it to work. Maybe I am way off, just can't remember the exact specifics of those episodes.

I have the Season 4 Blu-Ray, just haven't had time to re-watch it, but will soon.

After re-watching this today, this is close to what I see as well. Sometimes this show takes more than one viewing for everything to come together. It makes more sense now and I see the direction they are heading. I also see Daniel re-living the whole experience since the island was born, hence him in the mine at the beginning of the show. He's going to have to in order to understand the island and find the coordinates to bring the O6 back. I can't wait for this season to continue.

Interesting thought about Daniel. Never even crossed my mind that he was in the mine as a time traveler.

Not sure where to go with that. Daniel obviously should be older if he was indeed there. Unless, he's just like Alpert. Or, it's more along the lines of what you mentioned. He's reliving the entire experience to better understand it.

The Island does work in mysterious ways.
