but Desmond has, and yet he was still in the hatch. So, if they go back in time, wouldn't Jack/Kate/etc...not have left yet as well and should be on the island somewhere when they go back in time?

Meh the show is already starting to get wacky as hell. At least the plot its moving, it's easy to see this season will follow a similar path to S4. Off the island I'm fine with things but on the island, well that's gonna be a mess.

If you can't change the future, how did all those people on the beach die from the flaming arrows? Michael couldn't kill himself, Charlie couldn't avoid death, yet 10 extras dropped like flies on the beach.

Plus, Daniel talked to Desmond "back in time", so wouldn't Desmond recognize his name or Faraday woulda said "remember, I talked to you outside the hatch when you had a rifle pointed at me four years ago" when they were talking on the walkie talkie in S4? Pretty bad plot holes and I have a feeling there are going to be a lot more with this time travel stuff.

S4 Faraday would have no knowledge of that because he hadn't gone back in time to the point where he talked to Desmond. Even though that event occurred in the past, that wasn't the "past Faraday" talking to him, it was the "current Faraday" (holy hard to explain). Desmond should have known, but apparently the writers are wanting us to believe he forgot.

And I agree with you about plot holes. I really dislike time travel as a plot device in serial dramas. It causes way too many problems and can make some great writing look awful.

It was good and all but Time Travel is so risky to play with. Im def with "ehh" on what he said about the future and all that in his spoilers.

I was asking my gf the same thing as the show went on...

While agree with the general attitude here towards time travel, you are missing one key point about Desmond and Faraday.

Remember when Desmond was stuck in time, and he sees Faraday and asks what's happening to him. Faraday tells him that he needs a constant (Penny) and then Faraday writes in his diary that his constant is Desmond Hume. Also, Desmond's nose was bleeding on the freighter when all that happened much like Charlotte's is now.

I'm more interested in Faraday being seen on the island with Dr. Candle, and hopefully everyone noticed on the map that the wheel Ben used was BEHIND the blast wall Dr. Candle warned them not to continue working on.

Whoo...good two hours of TV! And that one extra was the spitting image of Steve Buscemi.

I tried watching it last night after giving up half way through season 4. I honestly felt like I missed nothing, and last night was just all over the place.

I don't get the show anymore, and it's just completely fallen off my radar.

I think there's a good chance Ms. Hawking is Faraday's mother.

I'm also really curious as to why their window is only 70 hours. Obviously Ms. Hawking is using the pendulum to calculate the window when the O6 can go back to the island. But is this the only window? Will the island stop skipping in 70 hours time? And if so, why? Will Faraday somehow fix the skipping? Otherwise if it didn't stop skipping, she could just calculate another window when they could go back. But it seems like this is the last window available.

Also, Locke meeting Ethan in the past, just after the drug plane crash, may explain why the Others treat Locke differently and know he's special. They've already met him and they know he's moving through time. It was also interesting how Faraday recognized Desmond as "special" because he was on the island previously, but wasn't on the island when it moved. Therefore Faraday recognized him as the only person he could interact with in the past who wasn't part of the group that was jumping through time. Cool.

Other questions....

- Why is only Charlotte getting the bloody noses?

- Who is Candle's baby?

- WHY does the island skip? It seems quite possible that it might skip to prevent things from happening that can't happen, like when Ethan was about to shoot Locke.

God I love this show.

In some strange way it all makes sense to me, at least what happened last night.

The Desmond scenario makes sense. That memory was implanted right then and there much like Johnny explained. He "remembered" it at that point in current time because it had just happened in real time.

While the island is going back and forth, time is still remaining constant... which is present day when the O6 are off the island.

As for Locke, he is in both places because he hasn't gotten off the island yet. It's obvious that they are setting up something to happen in the future of the island where Locke gets off and dies.

Desmond was still in the hatch because they were at a point and time PRIOR to the Oceanic plane crash but AFTER Eko's brother's plane crashed. That was the clue when Locke kept seeing the plane as to what time they were in.

I'm with Ehh, there are too many holes now with the time travel.

Ok, look at when Locke got shot by Ethan. His leg wound transcended time. When they jumped forward and backward, his wound was there. So if he died at some point, he should be dead forever. Locke should not have a way to die and come back. Otherwise, Boone would have been climbing that vine cliff up to the druggy plane with him. If you can't change the past then how can extras like Ehh said be dropping like flies from flaming arrows, if those extras had been the actual characters in the show it would have wreaked havoc.

No one knows what happened to those individuals yet. Since the island is "special" it's probable their state of being could not be impacted when the jumps are complete/stop.

Yeah I was thinking about that this morning and that is true as far as their deaths. They all better pop up the next time the island rotates or whatever you want to call it. Though for consistencies sake their injuries should stick with them since Locke's bullet wound in the leg stayed with him when the island rotated.
