Re: *** LOST: Season 5 Discussion***
There was an article on Lost in The Vue this weekend in the NY Post that had a few quotes from Cuse and Lindelof and that mentioned it again - Cuse said the show was like a roadtrip, they knew what/where the final destination was but weren't sure of all the adventures they'd run into along the way."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
"Beware of geeks bearing formulas." - Warren BuffetComment

And that's the way it's mostly done with shows of this magnitude.
I bet Fringe is much the same way. They have a definite idea who Massive Dynamic is, what the German man wants, what is going on in the freaking world, but all of the in-between is mostly going to be filled along the way.
When you read/hear about Lindeloff and Abrams going over the outline of the series before they wrote the pilot episode, they speak about how they saw a lot of the same things. That they had a similar premise and Abrams left knowing that Lindeloff would be able to reach that point without his help because the basic outline for Lost was already laid out.
So, did they know Charlie was going to die when they first wrote his character? Likely no. Did they know that experiments were conducted on the Island and that it was surrounded by a field of electromagnetic energy? Of course."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob NeyerComment

Re: *** LOST: Season 5 Discussion***
Other than seeing the preview towards the end of last year, that's all I have seen, can't wait. I'm tired though, don't know if I can make it or watch it on the DVR.Comment

Re: *** LOST: Season 5 Discussion***
Awesome show!!!! Love the direction, but my only question that puzzles me is how is Locke both on the island and off the island as well when the others that are off aren't on the island that we know of?Highheat's O's Franchise

Re: *** LOST: Season 5 Discussion***
SpoilerI am pretty sure the people trying to get back are 3 years in the future. What's happening on the island is in real time for those there. When they show them trying to get back to the island they are flashing 3 years into the future.Comment

54Spoilers only if you didn't watch

SpoilerI understand that, but why is Locke the only one in both places, both in the future (dead) and on the island (current time, well, now in the past). I just remembered that Desmond was in both places as well. Daniel met him at the door of the hatch, while he was also back home 3 years later with Penny. So both Desmond and Locke are currently in real time or past time on the island and off the island trying to get back. Makes me believe that the Oceanic 6 will also appear somewhere on the island as well in past or current time.Last edited by highheatkingsb; 01-22-2009, 12:28 AM.Highheat's O's Franchise
