Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
I liked this episode. Stand alone but its looking like each week echo seems to break her programming more and more. I wonder if the show will build on where/what the "attic" is.
and i was WTF when that contact of ballards turned out to be an active, until i remembered the promo photos before the premiere.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Thoughts?
I thought last week's episode had a better/more interesting assignment, but Paul's "mole" twist was pretty cool and the glitches throughout should prove to be interesting as the series progresses.
BTW, what was up with Echo at the end when she shook her head no at a smiling Sierra?

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
The frame like right before that was Sierra's handler talking to some other suits. On assignment he said something to the effect of "great now you're infecting her". I think the headshake was for Sierra's benefit.Thoughts?

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
The problem with the headshake (well a problem for them, not us) is that it confirms that Echo is definitely becoming more aware. Her memory should have been wiped out, so she should have never recognized the guy as Sierra's handler and she should have never acknowledged a potential conflict by avoiding a greeting with her.
I realize this is on purpose. It's just interesting to me bc I'm getting the feeling that Echo is remembering a lot and is faking her child-like state. For what purpose, I don't know. I don't think we can even logically guess at this point."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Hmm I think its on its way there but i'm not sure if its that advanced yet, but its anyones guess so far as to how far along she is.The problem with the headshake (well a problem for them, not us) is that it confirms that Echo is definitely becoming more aware. Dollhouse's DVR stats gave it the third biggest jump in viewership behind terminator and 90210, a 30% increase in viewers.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
Opinions?
This assignment was something i was expecting the show to have weekly once it was originally announced. Some pretty cool twists/history as well(Giving Sierra the same imprint to try and diffuse the situation). I really didn't think Ballard/Lubov's tale progressed things much on that end yet, but with the track record who knows.
Also, with the tidbits they're giving up about Alpha WTF kind of assignment did they give him? Surgical precision with knives, can hack the damn programming and cell phones to the dollhouse AND do things with it the dollhouse didn't think possible?HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
I'd assume they gave him a personality that they didn't realize was as gifted as expected. That or they knew it was especially gifted, but an unknown part of the personality allowed him to consider leaving the Dollhouse and rebelling against it. Either way, they just didn't expect it and I'm interested in knowing why.
I liked this episode. I've liked them all. I would actually say that the pilot was the worst episode with the pop-star being second worst. But, I still enjoyed them both.
I read an interview with Dushku and she says that the series really gets into stride with episode 6. Apparently, that's the first episode Whedon wrote since the pilot and it carries the rest of the season. They've also already shot 13 episodes, so I'm thinking they might be waiting to see if FOX orders a full season pickup, unless the mid-season start will force it to have half a season's worth of episodes. Anyone know anything about this?
edit: Quick check says that episode 13 is the season finale. So, if they shot it that means we'll get a full season. That's good.Last edited by CMH; 03-07-2009, 02:10 AM."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
Quite the man reaction there.
The episodes keep getting better as they go along, and next week is the first non fox meddling episode, so i know i'm excited (plus Joss wrote next weeks as well).
and there needs to be more Mellie with low cut tops.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Yea, Mellie needs to have a more prominent role in this show."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
Mellie's real name is Miracle Laurie. Interesting name there.
She's attractive. Originally she was cast as November - a doll in the house - but script issues cut the role so Joss Whedon offered her the role of Mellie.
I'm guessing that November might have been part of that original pilot arc that Whedon dumped."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
