Well, yea, November was a recurring doll from the original arc. Whedon cut the role because he says the show moves too fast now. Really? Well, he hinted at the possibility of introducing her in Season 3. Too bad Miracle won't be playing her."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Wow. This episode advanced the story in 15 minutes further than all the eps combined....HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
Guess Whedon had other plans.
Whedon: Here's the role of Mellie *wink*
Miracle: Why did you just wink at me?
Whedon: You'll see in episode six, which by the way I'm writing. *wink*
Miracle: ok...
So, it seemed obvious (though I wish I had noticed earlier) that she was a doll once I saw that they were watching the agent at his home. What this means, however, is that anyone can be a doll. Seriously. What's to stop that from happening? The agent could be a doll just so they could catch Alpha. All a plan to bring Alpha out of hiding.
The lady that runs the dollhouse could be a doll programmed to run the house for someone else. There are apparently 8 dollhouses. There's probably more. Someone bigger likely runs it. What's to say that the Handlers aren't dolls programmed to protect the dolls? Gotta have a security system, right?
Well, the storyline moved centuries ahead with this episode. Dushku was right when she said that episode 6 will open up the storyline and will move the story into it's proper direction. Previews for the next episode look great.
Miracle needs to show more neck and cleavage. That is all."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

The scene with Miracle was a definitive "oh snap" moment in television history as far as I'm concerned. Excellent episode.

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
I really liked her eyes in that scene. She did a great job of flipping that switch and making it look believable. Just crazy that they have this girl living amongst regular people and she's a doll. It really makes me wonder how deep the rabbit hole goes."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. So, who do we think programmed Echo's message in to the agent?

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
I'm thinking its Topher's Assistant Ivy, she's shown in little bits that she's capable of doing it, but on the flipside she doesn't seem like she's been there long enough to be involved in that way. The other guess I have is Dr. Saunders, due to the trauma of being sliced by Alpha.
And i was seriously surprised about Mellie/November. Joss has been intentionally spoonfeeding misdirection enough that i believed him. Still in all it was a great scene played. That flip of the switch moment reminded me so much of Amy Acker's scene in Angel when she flipped from Illyria to Fred.
In retrospect perhaps it was a good thing Fox meddled with the first few eps. Some of the revalations revealed in this episode wouldn't have had as much weight.
Seconded. Though that dress she had was fitting her curves right......Miracle needs to show more neck and cleavage. That is all.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
Interesting comment. I just assumed it was Alpha. But, Alpha must be working with someone on the inside, so I guess it would make sense that it is someone we've actually seen. Yea, I buy that. It's a character we've seen.
What about Mr. Dominic? Didn't he just knock the crap out of Echo the episode before as if he wanted her to die in the fire? Or did I dream all of that? That guy definitely has another agenda, though it wouldn't make sense that he would kill her when Alpha obviously wants her alive. So, they probably aren't working together. Either way, Dominic has a hidden agenda."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Now this was a great epi and if the show continues like this, could be a surprise hit. The first few epi's were good and ok, but not this great.Comment

That's what happens when Whedon steps in and shows the writers how it's really done."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
Ish just went down this ep! I agree, this took everything and made it awesome.
I could really tell that Joss wrote this episode, the hints of his humor, other little things.
I hope it continues and can keep this upward trend. I understand that the first few can be slow, but at some point you have to hit your stride.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
I liked this episode a lot too, especially because it wasn't really focused on the arrangement like the previous episodes were, but was the first episode to focus on evolving the story of the series and its characters. I really enjoyed the mix of the different storylines in this past episode because while I like Eliza, when she is on the screen for 40-50 minutes she starts to become the weakest part of the show for me.

Yeah, you can see how badly FOX hamstrung the first few episodes with their interference. Its like they wanted the show to get out of the gate slowly and fail.Jordan Mychal Lemos

Re: Whedon Fans Unite! The official Dollhouse thread
One thing i noticed that i liked about last Episode, was that in the Echo/Ballard fight scene he kept with the style he fought with (a Muy Thai variation? Krav Maga?) in the Pilot episode. Thought it was pretty cool. Not only that, I liked the shooting of the scene as well. Not as many fast cuts that don't let you see whats going on. (I Really hate that filming trend ruins many fight scenes IMO).
Also, Mellie's Table Stomp. Awesome.HELLO BROOKYLN.

I also noticed all the Muay Thai clinches...I don't know enough about Krav Maga or other fighting systems to know what it might be.One thing i noticed that i liked about last Episode, was that in the Echo/Ballard fight scene he kept with the style he fought with (a Muy Thai variation? Mellie was awesome, I like the twist and hope they keep her on to hold Ballard in check. This ep really made me more interested, whereas I'd enjoyed past eps, but they were a little "eh" at times.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
