Why do you think he spent his time doing deep sea documentaries?

I’ve never been more visually impressed with a film and disappointed with everything else. The CG and 3D were amazing. I did get a little bit of motion sickness at the beginning of the film. Avatar is really beautiful.

The film was way too long. I was starting to get restless at about the 2hr 10 minute mark. The movie just dragged on. Avatar is full is clichés and I found the Neytiri character really annoying. I found myself rooting against her. There is no emotional connection to the story, universe, or any of the characters. While James Cameron might have spent more than 10 years developing this film, it looks like he spent 10 minutes writing it.

          Movie Grade: C+

Amazing movie. Great story, great acting, best visuals ever (in 3D).

Saw the movie today. Absolutely awesome! The 3D was jaw dropping. I felt like I was in the world. Completely engrossed me in the picture

Saw the movie earlier today and I must say I was blown away. The story line like others have posted isn't anything original but you do feel connected to the characters and the effects with the 3D are simply AMAZING.

The thing I liked about the story was it didn't seem to drag on... For an almost 3 hour long movie, the pacing was brilliant.

I have to say that was the most amazing movie experience I've had ever. I went to the real IMAX , with the 6 story screen and I was completely immersed in Pandora. I'm for sure seeing it again.

I'm holding judgment until I think it through.

My initial reaction is I wasn't extremely impressed. I enjoyed the film as I watched and as others have said, the story line may not be the deepest, but it was coherent.

The one definitive in my book (and a thought that was shared by others I spoke to after the film) is that the 3D preview of Alice in Wonderland was much more impressive than the 3D effects in Avatar.

I need to perhaps watch this again to really leave comments on the overall film.

Was Avatar in full IMAX for only several scenes, like The Dark Knight? Or was the movie completely shot for IMAX throughout the film?

I forgot to mention that in my post...Alice In Wonderland in 3D is going to be CRAZY. The movie itself was going to be a journey but if you had 3D, I can't picture how realistic you are going to feel in the movie.

Thats so funny because I was thinking the same thing. The cheshire cat in the preview looked incredible.

I thought that the movie was great effects wise but was about 20-30 min too long and the script was bad in parts. Also, I wish we could talk about race related subjects because there were some things in that film that made me quite uncomfortable but I digress. Even with all of that, I still think it was the best film experience I've had this year.
