Watched Fly Boys, over at a friends house tonight..

It was all right, for a movie based on real events.

    I'd give it a solid 7/10.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. I liked it and thought the acting was good across the board. Not sure how much replay value it has though. 7/10

Very good movie overall and it was nice to see Eli Wallach acting at aged 95 or so. It doesn't have much replay value but the movie was as you say solidly acted across the board. I wasn't a huge fan of the ending though.

Anywho I watched a theatrical short that I saw listed on TCM a long time ago but it was only available on the US feed so I never got to watch it until now thanks to the greatness of the internet

          The Devil with Hitler (1942)

This was done by the famous Hal Roach Studios so you know it's bound to be pretty funny and honestly it would've made me laugh a bit if it wasn't for the actual characters involved. There's jokes in there that in retrospect make this very difficult to watch such as Hitler unsuccessfully being talked out of throwing a bunch of people in a concentration camp etc etc. Still it had the hallmarks of the Roach studio with lots of wordplay, slapstick and use of funny accents. The best parts of the short was the bedroom scene in which Hitler, Mussolini and a made up Japanese figure Suki Yaki have put life insurance policies on each other and have planted bombs. They all try to get rid of the bombs only to find themselves sleeping together and trying to get the hell out of dodge. The other really funny scene was the extended set piece of Hitler being thought to be an imposter and trying to get out of the predicament.

All in all it was enjoyable for what it was but at the same time highly disturbing. I can't really give a rating on this based on that but I would say it's at least worth checking out if you ever see it on TCM again.

Much like the book, it starts off slow then picks up. If you're a Rooney Mara fan, you are in for a treat. She gave 110% for this role and I'm not talking about her acting.

Overall, good movie though I think I spent too much time trying to remember if that scene/part was in the book.

Yes that and the 5 other sex scenes she's in.

And that rape scene is in and extremely graphic

Her "look", I guess that's the way to phrase it, in that movie seriously bums me out.

Does nothing for me. And I love Rooney Mara, so that's saying something.

                            Outland (1981)

In short, this is High Noon in space. It's actually not a bad movie and a bit underrated IMO. Sean Connery does a pretty good job of playing the Marshall but Frances Sternhagen steals the show as the station doctor who's a crusty, snarky woman but who helps out Connery in his investigation.

Marshal W.T. O'Niel is assigned to a mining colony on Io, one of Jupiter's moons. During his tenure miners are dying - usually violently. When the marshal investigates he discovers the one thing all the deaths have in common is a lethal amphetamine-type drug, which allows the miners to work continuously for days at a time until they become "burned out" and expire. O'Niel follows the trail of the dealers, which leads to the man overseeing the colony. Now O'Niel must watch his back at every turn, as those who seek to protect their income begin targeting him
So yeah, not a bad flick. Check it out if you ever come across it.

Watched Black Christmas (1974) on dvd starring Olivia Hussey, Margot Kidder, Keir Dullea, Andrea Martin & John Saxton. I have seen it many times over the years and it really is a creepy well executed movie. The mood and atmosphere adds to the tension and the phone calls are pretty graphic in language. The late Bob Clark directed the film and went on to do other films such as Porky's 1 & 2 and A Christmas Story. Highly recommended.
