Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Just watched Office Spacce on blu ray. Classic comedy and pretty good transfer (picture is a little soft and audio won't blow you away)
Gladiator looks and sound great on blu. A lot of reviewers said the video was bad b/c it's only 1080i. Definitely on the to buy list.
Next up is Braveheart....Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
SpoilerWe watch through the camera as the couple sleep. Then suddenly Kate sits straight up, gets out of bed, walks over to Micah and stands over him staring at him for a few hours. Then she walks out of the bedroom and we hear her going downstairs. After a few minutes tick off the clock, we hear Kate screaming. Micah wakes up, screams to Kate that he is coming to help her, and he darts out of the room. For the next few minutes you just see an empty bedroom with the ticking clock and you hear both Kate and Micah screaming and a lot of commotion like they are fighting. After a few minutes, the screaming stops and it is silent. After a minute or two of silence, you hear a loud stomping sound (like something very heavy is coming up the stairs).
From here, the ending diverges: Kate walks into the bedroom covered in blood and holding a large butcher knife down at her side. She walks into the room very heavy and stiff-like. She walks right up to the camera so that the upper half of her body is in the shot (but she isn't staring into the camera or looking at you, she's sort of looking downward), and then she simply pulls up the knife and slashes her throat in one quick, graceful movement, and falls down on the ground. The camera keeps rolling so we just see an empty bedroom for a few seconds and then the camera shuts off and the movie ends.
Here's the other one that's mentioned but not described there:
Every version of the climax that I've heard about has Micah dashing downstairs after Katie is dragged out of the bed/room, where some sort of off-screen ruckus takes place and only a bloody Katie returns. In this version, Katie tosses Micah's body at the camera from the hallway (a great money shot, I'll admit, albeit one given away in the trailer), kneels down beside his body to either sniff or lick it, and then approaches the camera before smiling and then lunging at the lens. A title card informs us that Micah's body was found on whatever date, and that Katie's whereabouts are still unknown...
Last movie I saw was Dead Snow. Fun little zombie Nazi gorefest.Comment

I watched The Taking of Pelham 123 and Death Race. Both were awesome, but I was really surprised how entertaining Death Race was. I've never heard anybody talk about it.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Just saw Surrogates with Bruce Willis. I was actually impressed at the movie. A pretty good action flick with a reasonable message. The story itself was fine, it could of used a bit more development but it was fine nevertheless.
SpoilerI hate trailers, the first tralier of this movie basically depicted the ending. At the end of the movie, a choice has to be made about turning off off the Surrogates; in the trailer it showed a scene where Bruce was walking the streets by his lonesome with everyone on the floor.

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Hit 4 movies today:
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen- Good action but way too many stupid scenes and lame writing.
Fast and Furious- thought this would stink but I enjoyed it and felt movie was it was decent. Good car porn
Up- HUGE disappointment. How people say this is an amazing film is beyond me. It isn't even CLOSE to Wall-E and it pales in comparison to every other Pixar film I have seen which is all of them. Cars would be the closest this comes to. A gigantic letdown to me since I expected greatness. Maybe those who loved it actually like their main characters being incredibly annoying. Or, maybe those who loved it simply have a Pixar bias and ignore its many issues.
In the Valley of Elah- great movie though I'm sure any war-thumpers probably think it sucks.Comment

Death Race was awesome, not usually a big fan of those typical action movies but I thought it was nicely done.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

My wife and I had been talking about Patrick Swayze and his movies; she hadn't seen Waking Up in Reno, a movie from 2002. We Netflixed it and watched it last night. A goofy situational comedy, but it was fun. Sad, half of that cast is gone: Swayze and Natasha Richardson.Comment

Watched Saw 6 last night in theaters. If your a fan of the series its a must see. One of the best in the series. I really enjoyed it, before this came out I kinda wished they would stop making these movies because I didn't want the storyline to be so off from the Saw's before, but I'm glad they made this because it answered a lot of questions from previous versions.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Finally watched both Braveheart and Gladiator on blu ray (back to back). Both are amazing and highly recommended.
Not sure this qualifies, but watched the Mariah Carey concert "Adventures of Mimi" on blu ray (only 1080i). I could have watched it with the mute button on and still enjoyed it....Mariah was smokin hot in HD.
Was a pretty good concert if you like her music. So double bonus.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
The Happening-6/10. I thought it was cool at the beginning but lost interest fast. Overall it wasnt a bad movie, just didn't like how it jumped right in to the action without explaining much, and then just ended. But in the beginning Mark Wahlberg said there is no reason to nature so that was the main point this movie was trying to drive. I read some bad reviews on this movie, but I thought it was decent.
And the acting and script was just plain bad. I think Mark Wahlberg is an excellent actor but some of his lines just made me LOL, it made him look like a mediocre actor.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment
