And then what? I didn't know you were waiting her out.
Saw "The Signal". I wanted to like it more. Sort of disappointed. We'll probably see more of the young lead, Brenton Thwaites, who has a fairly impressive early resume (The Giver, Maleficent). He reminded me of a young Colin Farrell.Comment

Sucker Punch.
I was trying to decide between a few movies and Ubernoob's input convinced me to rent it. I thought it was much better than the reviews made it out to be.
I would give it a solid 7/10 on the entertaining scale.
Not really much of a spoiler, but..
SpoilerThe ending isn't very clear and leaves room for interpretation, which is fun.Last edited by AUChase; 10-03-2014, 09:36 AM.Comment

The Purge. It was on HBO and had Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey so I thought I'd give it a go. It was a mix between the strangers and panic room with a twist on it. The movie itself wasn't all that great, but it was entertaining. Pretty good premise, average delivery but worth a watch.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

The Fault In Our Stars
I've never read the book before but for some reason I kept getting the urge to watch this for the past few weeks. It was really good. Kind of reminds me of a slightly more serious/heartbreaking Silver Linings Playbook with how they have two characters that have to deal with extreme circumstances.
The two leads were good, although I'm starting to feel like Shailene Woodley doesn't have all that much range in terms of the characters I've seen her play. Seemed fairly similar to Aimee in The Spectacular Now. And I've never seen the guy playing Augustus but he was a charming son of a bitch. It was also kind of entertaining watching Willem DaFoe be just a straight up ******* in the scenes he had.
Anyways, I recommend this. It's not a typical, cheesy love story and comes off very natural, as opposed to one where it feels forced. And if you ever want to make a woman cry, this is probably right up there with The Notebook (which I've still never seen, actually), because there is high potential for waterworks here.Last edited by BlueNGold; 10-03-2014, 12:49 PM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Yeah I liked Fault in our stars too. It was very hard for me to watch having lost people to cancer but it's really a good love story.

Yeah I haven't seen it either but my wife went with her friend and they said they were just sobbing the whole time.
I don't know if I want to do that.
She told me all about it so I feel like I'll save some tissues.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Annabelle
Just another typical horror/demon possession movie. This is why I don't care for the genre that much. They all seem to tend to follow the same beats. That's why I enjoyed a movie like the first Paranormal Activity so much. It was a fresh take, a new perspective and it felt real. This is just another by-the-books jump scare movie.
And there seems to be no subtletly at all in the movie. "Hey, let's keep focusing on this sewing machine 5 times to try and build tension!". There's many other instances of that as well throughout the movie.
Honestly, the best scene in the movie probably happens within the first half hour. From there there's some okay scares and maybe one really good one IMO. The climax of the movie is completely disappointing and lacks intensity. It's also pretty predictable.
I might be coming across as if the movie is terrible, and really I don't think it is, but it's not that good either. It was just more of the same that's been seen and done before. Fans of this kind of movie will still get their enjoyment out of it though.Last edited by BlueNGold; 10-03-2014, 11:27 PM.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches.
