Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Cool Hand Luke - I love this movie, I love it. Paul Newman has to be one of the coolest actors in history. He doesn't have to say anything at all, but you're just drawn to him. That smarmy smirk just screams arrogance, but he is so badass that he's cool. The movie itself is a treat - without Paul Newman it doesn't work and his character is by far the most engaging and interesting, but Newman's performance is so amazing that none of the characters really matter. My 2K17 Boston Celtics MyLeague

I just finished watching State of Play with Ben Affleck, Russell Crowe, and Rachel McAdams. Pretty good movie. I'm a fan of thrillers and political corruption type movies so this movie was for me. I would recommend it.Last edited by Buckeyes_Doc; 02-08-2010, 07:37 AM.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Watched Paranormal Activity. I had fun watching the movie. It gave me tingles and I would find myself not breathing. Stressfully enjoyable.
To Lilbently, I enjoyed State of Play too. Russell Crowe did a good job in his role.Comment

I just saw Into the Wild and I was pleasantly surprised. The movie's title, alongside a picture of a fellow sitting on top of what looked like a hippie bus, made me think it was going to be awash with generic toutings of free love and peace signs. I feel like I should have already known about this story (at least the book) but I didn't, so it was all fresh and thought provoking. As with every other person who watched this movie, I now feel like quiting my job and traveling cross-country on foot. I recommend this film.
I also watched Gone Baby Gone and I thought it was a good film, but it didn't necessarily stick out to me in any fashion. It just felt like a well put together crime mystery flick. I will say the entire cast seemed pretty legit. A lot of the supporting characters were extremely convincing and gave the movie a lot of life. Plus, there was a character named Chris Mullen, so that was cool.
Into the Wild - 8.5/10
Gone Baby Gone 8/10Comment

I watched Pinocchio on blu-ray yesterday (quality was awesome considering how old the film is). I forgot how intense and, at times, terrifying Disney movies used to be. I mean, those movies would freak some kids out I'm sure because the scene where Pinocchio's friend turns into that donkey was some crazy stuff. The last Disney movie I remember that had the potential to scare a kid's childhood was when Mufasa died in Lion King. Anyway, Pinocchio was a lot better than I remembered it being. Not sure what to make out of actors/theater subtext, but it was interesting to note.

Agreed with everything, but Norm is key in this movie (his boss). I hope that guy gets more roles, he's hilarious.Comment

Frality-(2002) With Matthew McConaughey and Bill Paxton about a serial killer in Texas who think he is doing God's will by destroying demons. Pretty interesting movie. McConaughey who I never have been a fan of did good in this movie. I liked the twist at the end but felt like I should of seen it coming.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Frailty is my kind of movie. The kind of movie that really makes you think about everything you know, and how maybe you don't really know any of it. It makes you question everything. Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
I just finished the documentary Beer Wars on NetFlix instant-stream. It detailed the competitive beer market, focusing on the dominance of Bud and Coors/Miller over smaller breweries. I really enjoyed the in depth look they did on the founder of Dogfish Head and his brewery. It's always been obvious to me how much money is spent by the major breweries, but the politics in the beer industry really left a displeased taste in my mouth. I'm definitely pulling for the little guys...I like to taste my beer.Comment
