I saw The Lovely Bones with the wife last night and not sure what to think about it. I enjoyed the first 30-45 minutes and the last 30-45 minutes but the middle of the movie I just didn't like. Specifically the part where she is in between earth and heaven and she and her friend are running around with all the special effects. I loved the story though and the ending was great. Just wish they would of done away with all that special effects crap but I see why they did it but just wasn't a fan of it. Overall it was decent.

Red Cliff (Part One) 9.0
Just an awesome movie, John Woo at what he does best, awesome action scenes and a pretty good core story with some interesting characters.Comment

If John Woo has ever made a perfect movie, this would be it. These film(s) were awesome. I'm sort of sad many people won't get to witness it. With the production value it has, it boggles my mind why they didn't give it a state side theatrical release.

Red Cliff not being brought over to the U.S.? Suprised as Woo has a good reputation here.follow me on twitter: www.twitter.com/eton_riflesComment

Felon-Crime drama starring Val Kilmer and Stephen Droff. Pretty good moving showing how horrible prison life can be dealing with rival inmates and corrupt prison guards. One thing I didn't like is how this move greatly exaggerated corruption in prisons. It showed prison guards shooting inmates for nothing and letting them fight. Overall it is entertaining and a good prison story and was actually shot in a real New Mexico prison.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

I Love You Again (1940)
A comedy starring William Powell and Myrna Loy (best known for the Thin Man movies they made together) star in a pretty standard comedy but the actors make it work, the other major character being played to great effect by Frank McHugh. (That's one thing I love about old Hollywood they had more or less the same supporting actors mainly in comedies but they were always fresh and funny) Anyways Powell plays a stuffy, boring and dreary guy who tries to stop McHugh's character from going overboard the ocean liner they're on. Well McHugh falls over and Powell tries to get him only to find himself overboard too! In the commotion of trying to rescue the two Powell gets knocked in the head by one of the ocean liner workers......
Next we see Powell being taken care of by McHugh mainly because he owes Powell one for saving his life only Powell is no longer the stuffed shirt. He's now a pretty well known con man who'd disappeared for 9 years. It seemed that he was an amnesiac for those 9 years and now is trying to piece things together. They figure out that Powell's former identity is seemingly rich and try to cook up a scheme.
Things aren't what they seem though and hilarity ensues. The biggest example being that the wife Powell thinks he has is actually going to divorce him. Needless to say we got some snappy dialogue and funny situations. Not LOL funny to us these days but there were some moments that made me smirk.
I give this about 2 1/2 stars (the section where Powell who has no clue about anything to do with this has to lead a boy scout troop took a bit too long but it led to a plot point so can't begrudge it too much)Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I watched The Invention of Lying with Ricky Gervais on Sunday, Hilarious!! Especially the religious stuff in it (which could offend some btw). It did get a little less funny as the movie got near the end but overall I thought it was one of the funniest movies i've seen in a long time.
Next I watched The Hurt Locker - wow, talk about drama! Not your typical war movie at all. I can't imagine being over there in the desert doing what those guys do...they are truly heroic.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

OH btw, I also watched Irreversible, what a boring, terrible movie, I would highly recommend everyone avoid it. I only rented it because someone on some forum said it was shocking (it wasn't).Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

The Hurt Locker - Fantastic. From the direction, to the acting, to the suspense, just awesome. Deserves every award it has and will win this awards season.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Big Fan - Wow. What a terrific movie. Anyone passionate sports fan could easily relate to certain things within this movie. Patton Oswalt was absolutely golden in this. Those expecting a laugh out loud comedy should beware though, because this was one dark movie. I laughed, I felt uncomfortable, and I laughed some more. Without a doubt, this was one of the best movies I have seen in a while. Do youself a favor and check this out.
And the fact that Patton Oswalt's character was a N.Y. Giants fan made this even better. The NFC East bickering was spot on.

I watched it today, I couldn't relate to him at all. That dude was a straight up loser. I'm a pretty passionate sports fan but that was just fanatical. Clearly an insane individual. I thought it was a decent movie, I went from laughing at him, to feeling sorry for him to just feeling plain uncomfortable. By the end of the movie I just kept thinking, there are probably a good number of these crazies at OS. Also made me think about a lot of the imbeciles that call in on Finebaum.
I also watched a documentary called Crazy Love about this New York couple's strange relationship. You guys should check it out, it's a pretty bizarre tale.Last edited by trobinson97; 01-25-2010, 09:48 PM.PS: You guys are great.

Finally got around to watching Inglorious Bastards. Tarantino strikes again imo. Lots of really interesting and screwed up characters, lots of blood, good infusion of music and cinematography, etc. The ending was extremely satisfying. Great movie.Comment

I liked it, inglorius basterds, not as heavy on the action as I thought though..I thought it'd be 90% just those guys killing nazis when it actually had a very good plot with other stuff in it...to be honest i'm not sure if i was disappointed or happy with the movie being different from my expectations...Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Murder in the First-Excellent movie. I'm glad my wife got this off netflix. Never heard of it before but it is one of the better movies I've seen. Kevin Bacon was great in it. 5 stars. Can't believe I never heard of it.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment
