Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Faster: Don't kill The Rock's brother. Turns out that sort of pisses him off.
My only wish was that he didn't carry a gun throughout the movie and instead just gave everyone a Rock Bottom.
Pretty decent movie. Worth a rental. Caused me to yell "WHAT?!?" twice at my television by the end of it. And not the Stone Cold Steve Austin "WHAT?!?", genuinely shocked "WHAT?!?".Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

The Karate Kid remake sucks in my opinion. Charlie St. Cloud seems like a "girly" movie or guys who likes the same sex type of film but then again this is coming from a guy who likes them bloody disgustung movies with lots of blood and gore.
I guess we cant be firends.

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Initially, I felt the movie should have ended on a freeze frame. But, after some discussion and reading some other thoughts on the film, I came to realize that the final 10 or so minutes of the film are vitally important in explaining the actions of the Colonel on the train. And not just his actions, but why he can perform those actions.
Good science-fiction film. Forces you to accept that a specific technology is possible to accept the plot, but once you do, all of it fits."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
I tried to like the new Karate Kid. It had too many issues for me. The beef between the main characters wasn't built up enough. It felt forced. The huge upgrade in his kung fu ability seemed unrealistic. And my biggest complaint was that the kids tournament felt like a UFC PPV. Way too over the top, IMO.Comment

Battle L.A- 7.0
Alright movie, felt like District 9 and Skyline. It looked pretty good though. Not an Oscar wining movie but a fun watch.
Side Note: Might go see Sucker Punch for the 2nd time Tuesday lolComment

The Rite-Zzzzzzz. The lead role played by Colin O'Donoghue was extremely boring. Anthony Hopkins did decent but overall it felt like a watered down exorcism movie.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
saw this movie Black Death, came out in 2010, has Boromir from lotr (or 006 from Goldeneye - Sean Bean), really gritty movie about "messed" up times(for lack of a better word).
^I thought it was awesome.
I saw Battle for LA, thought it was stupid. "Visually pleasing, Easily Forgettable". I saw a page or two back someone compared it to District 9, which does District 9 no justice, as that was an awesome movie. Battle for LA felt cheesy, forced, and unbelievable. But hey, you like what you like.
Also saw Chinatown from the '70s with young Jack Nicholson, that was pretty awesome. Its long, but if you let it suck you in, you won't be able to walk away.
Haven't seen this one yet, but it looks hilarious, then again I love the horror/comedy mix (when done right).
(yes this film is about a serial killer...that's a tire. judging by the trailer and what I've heard/read, it supposed to be a kinda stupid funny horror movie.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Some movies I netflix'd over the past month or so, just because... I went in to all of these not expecting much, but these surprised me and I actually enjoyed them.
It's Kind of a Funny Story- 4/5. This one was really good actually. Zachary Galifinakis is probably my favorite comedic actor nowadays, and although (like the title says) it wasn't all that funny, it was a pretty darn good movie. I didn't even know what this was really about going in, but it's worth a watch if you haven't seen it.
Love and Other Drugs- 4/5. I really don't like Gylennhall much at all. And i didn't like him all that much in this one either. Wasn't my choice to get this one, but I actually found it surprisingly funny. Decent flick for watching with the girlfriend/wife.
Let Me In- 4/5. I'm so not into the whole vampire thing at all. In fact I came into this with about as negative of an attitude as possible, but this movie was totally not what I was expecting. The story drew me in, and the acting and plot were great. I'm still not going to watch Twilight, but from now on I won't just dismiss a movie because it's a vampire movie. Recommended.
Faster- 3.5/5. I find pretty much all of The Rock's movies to be just dreadful, but this one was an exception. With the exception of Billy Bob and the dumb ending, I liked this.
Restrepo- 4/5. Documentary about war in Afghanistan. Pretty good for the most part. No actual blood/violence, just a real movie about what it's like being at war.
Animal Kingdom- 4/5. About a criminal family that takes in a nephew after his mother dies. They try to make him a part of the family business, and a cop (Guy Pearce) tries to save him from a life of crime.
The Next Three Days- 3.5/5. From what I remember this didn't get too great of reviews. It was alright, nothing great, but worth a watch. Crowe's last few movies haven't been that great IMO.
Tron: Legacy- 4.5/5. OK, so this one I really enjoyed the other day. I honestly thought it looked really stupid from the previews, and I've only watched like 10 minutes of the original. But, I popped this in and was just mesmerized. Miles better than I anticipated. Great Visuals, amazing soundtrack, OK story, and Olivia Wilde was super hot in this. I never understood the big deal about her, but WOW, in this movie she was insanely hot to me for some reason. I don't get the bad reviews for this, but then again I really wasn't expecting much going in.Comment
