Adjustment Bureau - Glad I watched it, but also glad I didn't have to spend money on it.
Unstoppable - Same review - glad I've seen it, and would watch it again if I 'had' to, but glad I didn't spend money to see it.
Forgot I completed the trifecta of "glad I saw it but didn't pay for it" with Faster.
In case you didn't notice, I'm catching up on all of the movies I've missed because I didn't want to pay for any of them.Last edited by Beantown; 06-02-2011, 09:38 PM.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
If I liked any of these enough to own, I'd definitely buy them, but so far...eh.
Other than True Grit, I haven't gotten into the Oscar worthy ones yet. The Fighter, Black Swan, King's Speech, Winter's Bone, Blue Valentine are all on my list to watch soon.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I just love watching movies, even "bad" ones, and there's a bunch that I've been dying to see that I didn't pay for when they were in theaters or don't want to waste the money blind-buying, so this works for me.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I have a stack of blus I haven't watched. And I keep buying more. And I have netflix. LOL. My friends will usually drag me to the bad movies when they're in theater, so I guess that balances it out in a monetary sense. Ugh.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
What a fantastic and visually enticing piece of motion art this was. I already liked Edgar Wright for his work with Simon Pegg, but this might take over Shaun of the Dead as my favorite film of his. My dad thought it was weird and that's okay, I knew he would for the kind of movie that he was (as I thought it was weird, especially the first ex). But wow, the editing was phenomenal in this one. It sure was original from most movies that are out there, and was pretty funny as well.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Man I went on netflix and saw the title Battle : Los Angeles
Im like cool...i remember seeing this at the movies, let me watch it since its a holiday weekend
Start the movie and im like, I dont remember this. I see Kel from Keenan and Kel and goodburger in the movie as a soilder. Im like no way this aint it... and as I continue to watch it, I see why the movie was rated 2 stars
Its cheesy, the explosions are hilariously cheap, and comedy ensued with some of the acting, no lie. The laughs were loud because it was just sooooo corny
Definitely disappointed and want my time backComment

...and speaking of schlock I watched a couple Godzilla movies last night! No real reason to go into an in depth review but I used to love watching them as a kid just for the funny dubbing and the ridiculous kaiju battles. After that I watched Dinosaurus! (1960) which was pure unadulterated cheese. It was actually pretty slow and boring. The movie really suffered from using the kid as a POV character. Some Godzilla movies around that time had that kind of annoyance too with the little Kenny Syndrome. Nonetheless this movie did have some charming parts such as when the caveman breaks into a house and discovers modern amenities and such. The SFX for the two dinosaurs in the flick were very Harryhausen like....
Speaking of Harryhausen the next flick I saw (though not all the way through) was The Valley of Gwangi (1969) featured his work. It's basically King Kong in a western style setting. It isn't really that bad though it dragged considerably with a tedious script. Once they get out of the Valley the movie really fell off the rails for me. It seems like James Franciscus was in a lot of genre/cheapie films after he did Beneath the Planet of the Apes...Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
