Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Cedar Rapids- Decent comedy. Not laugh out loud funny but I liked Ed Helms character, and John C. Rielly was good like always.
Hobo with a Shotgun- Excellent black comedy with a vulgar non-stop action.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Watched The Butterfly Effect starring Ashton Kutcher and Amy Smart last night and man was I dissappointed. A friend of mine who I usually have pretty similar taste in movies too told me it was great but I though it stunk.
The ending was very unsatisfying and any time a movie ends with (major spoiler) :
Spoilerthe main character going back in time to choke himself with his own umbilical cord in the womb
I'm sorry but it's pretty hard not to be let down.
5/10 from me...Comment

Just walked in from seeing Horrible Bosses. Very funny movie. Oh, and Jennifer Aniston is getting hotter every single day. Brad Pitt is clearly screwed in the head.I'm a Vince McMahon Guy!

I do however agree that Aniston does seem to somehow be caught in a hotness time machine.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Finally saw Blue Valentine.
Talk about a frustrating movie to watch. Let's get it out of the way that I liked it a lot. I can see why people had so many good things to say about this film.
Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling had amazing chemistry especially in the beginning stages of their characters' love life. Many of the scenes were filmed on first take and my favorite scene in which both characters reveal hidden talents, the director had both Michelle and Ryan keep their actual hidden talents from each other until the camera was rolling.
As for the story, it was just frustrating to watch because of how things go down.
Spoiler
The couple is falling apart and you can see Dean really wanting it to work. He isn't the greatest man in the world, but he sure is a good dad and seems to really love his wife. But, Cindy seems tired of their back-and-forth, their interaction. Granted she was somewhat pushed into her situation, but she never really explains what it is that is making her so unhappy.
She hints that she doesn't like that her husband drinks in the morning, though he works, never hits her and pretty much maintains a solid lifestyle. Yet, in a later scene you can hear her coworkers talking about Dean as if he's this manipulative, abusive husband that treats her like crap. And it's so frustrating because the guy just oozes love for her. Oozes it.
Can he be a bit short? Yea. But, so is she. And if he had a short temper she could at least tell him that. Instead, she's just fighting every opportunity she can because she's unhappy and offers no reasons to him why. He even asks: "What can I do? I'll get better." Her reply is: "I just can't do this."
Just heart breaking for the dude. So frustrating.
Laughed hard at this scene (don't know why):
DEAN: Tell me a joke.
CINDY: So there’s a child molester and a little boy walking into the woods. The child molester and the little boy keep walking further and further, and it’s getting darker and darker, and they’re going deeper and deeper into the woods. And the child molester — the little boy looks up at the child molester and says, ‘Gee, mister. I’m getting scared.’ And the child molester looks down at him and says, ‘You think you’re scared, kid? I have to walk out of here alone.’
[DEAN SHAKES HIS HEAD]
CINDY: You don’t think that’s funny?
DEAN: [Giggles] No.Last edited by CMH; 07-09-2011, 09:02 AM."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Insidious. More like "Ridiculous". I'm not a big horror fan.... well, if it's well done (G. del Toro stuff ---- though he can be considered more suspense than horror). But this was just bad through and through. Sure, some good shock moments, but the acting was very sub-par, especially the dad/husband. And this is the second movie I've seen with the little boy (The Next 3 Days was the other) and he really doesn't bring anything to the screen as a child actor.
I wouldn't waste my time.
Funny comparative pictures to other movies: http://fascinationwithfear.blogspot....ing-about.html
....and what the hell was this?

That's the alternate ending on the director's cut. The one it came out with was...

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I forgot to mention a recently watched movie...
The Devil's Hand
This was pretty decent. If they had cut it down it would've been a fantastic Twilight Zone episode.Comment

13 Assassins -9.0
Freaking brutal movie. Watched it on a limb because i was bored tonight and i'm glad i did. It was a little hard to keep up with in terms the dialogue because it was hard dubbed, would of rather watched it subbed with the Japanese voices.
The blood and gore was definitely there which was excellent because these guys are samurais with freaking SWORDS. The combat reminded me a lot of Ninja Gaiden for some reasonEven with the crappy translation through the dub you feel a hatred for the "Lord" their trying to kill and truly hope that guy gets what he deserves, the movie did a wonderful job of crafting the bad guy and a pretty good job of giving us our protagonists.
