Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Mission Impossible:Ghost Protocol
I don't remember the first Mission Impossible too much, thought two was ok and that three was amazing. This one is definitely up there with three. If half of the tech in here is real, than WTF. I love all that high tech stuff. The story was alright, the overall tone and action was amazing though

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Captain America
I think this might be my last modern movie for a while though I do want to see Source Code so who knows. Before I launch into my review I have to say I love how with the Marvel Cinematic Universe they've interconnected things well in the movies while at the same time keeping the films completely separate. I bet the new Spider-Man movie will be interconnected with the other films in some way as well.
Anywho, I really liked this movie and the whole vibe that it gave off with the message that even the little guy can become something bigger than himself and be ca hero. I did notice they kinda mucked around a bit with the Red Skull making him the originator of HYDRA but I guess this was the easiest way to bring the HYDRA concept to the screen. Hugo Weaving did a pretty good job as Red Skull though his German accent kept coming and going. The guy that played Cap was pretty good though I felt he was a bit stilted at times.
The only thing that really irked me about the movie was the tacked on love interest. I mean this story could've been easily told without her or with a male in that role. Nonetheless she didn't hurt the movie at all and it was pretty good.
I loved the mishmash of 40's tech with modern high tech gadgetry. I kinda wish a live action Batman movie had taken that approach like the old cartoon series. I really think people would respond well to that. The use of the original Cap uniform as he was being used as a PR device was neat and original IMO as it allowed people to see the classic look before the new uniform n this movie.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Funny People
I thought it was a pretty good movie. I expected it to end a little sooner than it actually did. It was about three hours long according to the TV guide, but some of it was commercials. I started watching and then left with some friends, so luckily I recorded it and got to finish.
There were a bunch of different actors and 'celebrities'. The movie progressed really quickly and turned out different than I thought it would.
Good Movie 7/10

Captain America. Really enjoyed it. They did a good job with Cap's character development. One of my favorite comic book movies. Looking forward to Avengers.Comment

Saw Cowboys and Aliens. Just awful. Almost fell asleep. Avoid this at all costs lol.
Also saw Warrior. Really good movie. I admittedly rented just because I'm a mma fan, but this story was actually really good. Just an overall good movie. Even my wife liked it and she hates mma.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Horrible Bosses - Hysterical...absolutely hysterical. Not much else to say about this one. The cocaine scene was probably my favorite, but every scene with Colin Ferrel in it were hysterical. Also, not much needs to be said about Aniston's performance other than hell ****ing yes.
Planet of the Apes - Another awesome movie. Was skeptical but holy crap am I glad I watched this. Just a surprisingly good movie.
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (American) - Another Fincher home-run. The man just turns out incredible movies and is easily the only director other than Nolan that I will watch whatever movie he puts out. Rooney Mara, holy ****. What a performance and what a commitment to her role. Those two scenes (if you've seen it, you know which) were actually hard to watch and I don't usually get like that. Just a credit to how realistic and well done they were portrayed. Can't wait to watch this one again.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Arthur - Woke up at 5:30 this morning and had this on DVR. Kept me entertained for 2 hours. Nothing special and doubt I'd ever watch again.
Blue Valentine - Excellent in every way. I had read many negative reviews online, so this was a pleasant surprise.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
My wife watched it with me and she goes "yeah it was good but it was such a 'guy movie'". I asked her what she meant and she saidSpoilerwell there is no real closure. Do they really reconcile with the dad? Does the brother who won help out the widow? etc etc
and I guess she might have had a point but I liked it the way it was.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Limitless.
Gave it 3/5.
It kept me interested in knowing what would happen next, but there was no real threat in the film.
Kind of felt like the guy was just living a high from beginning to end with just a few little hang ups here and there.
Would have been more interesting if
Spoilerthe last five or so minutes happened 45 minutes earlier. Then the film could have centered on a real power threat attempting to shut him down.
As it is, no one was really trying to take anything away from him. They just wanted to join. Where's the real conflict in that?

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (American Version)- 9.0
I went to the local movie theater in the town over which is connected to the mall because it's in the same area as Ihop which i was planning on going to after the movie. The movie was at 7:20, me and buddies got there ten minutes after only to find out the movie was sold out half an ago. So we went to the theater two towns over and even that one was full. So it's good to see it getting word of mouth even three weeks after it's initial release.
For starters the movie was long, but I enjoyed every minute of it. The end sort of felt a bit useless after the big reveal and climax of the story, but i hear it's a set up for the sequel which is fine then. Definitely a very graphic movie. I want to say about 15 mins into the movie, two older ladies got up and left after the first scene of "getting one's money."
Word on the street was that there was a pretty graphic rape scene in the movie, and it was definitely uncomfortable to watch. The entire theater sort of just grasped and you can sort of see everyone slide into their seats and turn their heads away. Definitely graphic. The second big scene even though MORE graphic wasn't as bad as the first scene. For anyone who watches it, you'll understand what i mean.
Overall the movie was awesome. A good amount of action, and an amazingly convincing story. One of the better movies I've watched this year.Comment
