You should check out Yojimbo/Sanjuro. Kurosawa directed those, too. Yojimbo was later remade (originally without credit) as Fistful of Dollars. Its fun to watch American westerns, then watch samurai movies, and then go on to spaghetti westerns. Very nice flow of influences.
Nice. Thanks for the recommendations. I'll have to check those out.

One of the greatest movies of the genre, hell probably THE greatest. It influenced the Magnificent Seven western as well. I've seen it a couple times and each time i've come away with something different.

        Our Idiot Brother

Cute movie with a heartwarming message about family. Nothing really happens. Zooey Deschanel & Rashida Jones kissed. That was cool.

Plus, I can't get over the fact that we were actually supposed to root for a freaking robot. Not even a cool robot we grew up with like Optimus Prime. Just a robot that, if you think about it, helped put Hugh Jackman's character out of a job.

And that's why I didn't like Real Steel.
That's fair but I think we rooted for very different things in the film.

I never rooted for the robot.

Snow White and the Huntsman. Admittedly I didn't stay in the room as I was going in and out to check game scores, but had some merit from what I saw. Porting real actor faces in to the dwarves was pretty well done as was the overall CGI. Not a big fan of the Twilight chick and I think her acting overall is pretty 1 dimensional.

Check out "Welcome to the Rileys" sometime. Stewart had a real good turn in that, and it's a very good film.

My 2nd favorite movie of all time, and what I consider the best movie I have ever seen. Truly epic and so full of humanity. Really glad you saw it and enjoyed it. Wish more people would brave the B&W and subtitles and length.

Mifune is really THE samurai. IMO, he's like the John Wayne of Samurai films.

Without a doubt. He made so many great Samurai movies, too. Don't forget The Hidden Fortress, which was one of the inspirations for Star Wars.

I thought that Snow White movie wasn't too bad.

I let the girl pick the movie, but I think I may have enjoyed it just as much as her. I plan on watching Public Enemies, tonight. I have had it on BR for what feels like 2 years. It's time I finally give it a go.
