I loved Catching Fire but I'm wondering how Hoffman's death will affect the sequel.

Some others mentioned in the movie's thread that he was almost done filming his parts for the next 2 movies, so it should be minimal

He was the strangest part of catching fire for me. Huge fan since boogie nights, but it was like he was playing himself among a bunch of over the top characters.

What movies have you seen recently?

Saw American Hustle and Hunger Games: Catching Fire yesterday. Loved both of them. The 4 leads in American Hustle put on great performances in their own rights. Jennifer Lawrence was amazing in both films, but especially in HG. The cast overall in that movie was outstanding and it's one of the better movies overall that I've seen in a long time.

Of the 4 leads, I'd say Jennifer Lawrence was the worst. Not to say she was bad, but Bale, Adams, and Cooper killed it. Lawrence's character was supposed to be over the top so I think it was probably the easiest to portray... Plus, Adams side boob action can't be beat.

I just picked her out because she was in both movies that I watched. I thought she played the wife perfectly in American Hustle, but everyone in it was fantastic. The scenes with Cooper and Louis CK were hilarious.

The Wolf of Wall Street - Pretty damn epic. It's 3 hours long but it doesn't seem to be that long because it's so entertaining. The scene where Leo and Jonah Hill take too many pills is hilarious. It's too bad Leo wasn't able to get an Oscar out of this.

The Conjuring - It was okay. Pretty predicatable since it followed most of the typical horror movie beats. It had its moments, and maybe I was in too comfortable of a setting, but I really didn't find it very scary. The first Paranormal Activity is still the standard for me because of how real it seemed.

Most amazing use of the Free Bird guitar solo, when Jen-nay was on the ledge contemplating jumping....


Also watched Catch Me If You Can again....hadn't seen it in years. Forgot how well done this movie was made.

The scene with Fortunate Son starting when they enter Vietnam is still great.

Saw Fast 6, or Furious 6. It was alright. I finally saw the runway scene the whole internet was making fun of when it first came out. That was kinda ridiculous. A little too happily ever after at the end though.

I guess you didn't watch the after-credits scene.

Just watched Wolf of Wall Street. It was like watching Boiler Room with 90 extra minutes of hookers and drugs. Not a bad thing.

Gravity 3D. It was good, not great. First movie I watched on my 3D projector--several scenes had good 3D sequences.

Pacific Rim 3D. 4th time watching--still love it. 3D done right.

Went and saw Draft Day as an excuse to get out of the house. Was an ok movie and exceeded my fairly low expectations.

Couldn't sleep, so I watched Stay on one of the HBOs last night. Very weird movie and had to stay up another 30-45 minutes reading about the movie to figure out what was really going on.

Not sure if I recommend it or not, I'll have to watch it again some time just to see if I can really understand it.
