Captain America: It was good, but I never really felt surprised or really any emotion during any of it. I liked the mix of genres and how well they played up campy noir in the first half, but it never felt like it was outside the boundaries of a paint by number set. It's a Marvel film. Still, Black Widow is her usual badass with miniature weapon set. The drama feels dramatized, but is successful overall. I came away looking forward to Guardians of the Galaxy.

I watched Grown Ups 2 and Ted.
I preferred Grown Ups 2 over Ted. I thought it was hilarious from beginning to end. I liked Ted but I don't know, there was something about it that just didn't keep my attention the entire time.--

Ocean's 11 & 12.
Such a stark contrast in quality of storyline and flow. Ocean's 11, which makes me intrigued to see the 1960 original, did a tremendous job of introducing the characters and giving many of them very timely lines. It also did the difficult task of balancing the mega-star ensemble cast very well.
Ocean's 12 seemed to start with great promise, but fell apart rather quickly imo. It became very fragmented and had that feeling of being forced. I heard 13 was much better and should be viewing that soon. I heard that Andy Garcia actually joins their team which will probably not sit well with me. Not much of a Garcia fan.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I love all 3 of the Ocean's flicks. 11 is probably the overall best but 12 grew on me after repeat views.
13 is just a romp and really fun.GO 'HAWKS!

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
As Lieutenant Dan said, you have to watch O12 a few more times to really enjoy it. Watch O13 first, then re-watch them again. See if it changes your mind regarding O12. They have some fantastic, fantastic subtle moments in that film whereas O13, as much as I love it, is very stylistically in your face. The artsy subtleties of O12 are just great. O11 probably can't be beat though.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Life of Brain - They certainly don't make them like they used to. I've seen this many times, but this was the first time Ashleigh had seen it. She still prefers Holy Grail, but still enjoyed this considering her parents were both raised Catholic and she went to Catholic school for a bit. Still fun. It can drag at times, but its worth it just for the end song and pole-dance.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
The other day I watched The Sheik (2014) which is a crowdsourced documentary on the life and legend of the Iron Sheik. This movie was done by a couple brothers who are family friends and managers for the Iron Sheik. It's a heartfelt and stirring documentary that looks at his life through his perspective and details everything from his days back in Iran to his wrestling career. The film delves into the period in his life about 10 or so years ago when he got into hard drugs and was tearing his family apart due to it. It stemmed from the murder of one of his daughters and it really crushed him.
The film has participation by a lot of guys that you would normally see on a WWE DVD so there is some credibility there and the behind the scenes look at his life is both entertaining and at times heart wrenching. The way his life has turned around is remarkable and shows that guys like him and Jake Roberts etc etc CAN turn themselves around with the right people supporting them.
This doc gets my highest recommendation A+ stuff.
Here's the trailer I dunno if there's NSFW stuff in there or not so watch at your own risk:

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
Finally saw Cap 2. Very much a comic book on screen. My character takes:
Chris Evans - all I could think was, "good career move" dumping signing on exclusively as the Torch. He fits the role very, very well.
Samuel L. Jackson - still don't like SLJ in much anything in these latter years as an actor. It's all the same schtick and I thought he underacted in some scenes.
Scarlett Johansson - I think this is a miscasting from the start. I think someone who could have pulled off the look and a slight Russian accent would have filled the bill more.
Anthony Mackie - very nice job and filled the role well....and the integration to the big screen was done well.
SpoilerSebastian Stan - I didn't know this storyline until I looked it up and even after knowing (what I wish I hadn't) this played out very well. Another example of a relative no name actor filling a comic book role just about perfectly.
And really great display/demonstration of Cap and the use of his shield throughout. Only one part that seemed to be a faux pas:
SpoilerThe Winter Soldier throws Cap's shield back at him and Cap catches it in his hands. Technically it should've severed him. Later, he avoided a throw as if it was going to hurt him.Comment
