Amazing that it's 50 y.o. But I don't think this qualifies as a movie. However, it gives younger generations a taste of Burl Ives. And we have multiple RTRNR Christmas ornaments.

I wonder what the time investment comparison is for hand drawn movies (done well, like Snow White and Cinderella) versus CG. But man, when you watch those older, hand drawn ones and think about how many drawings had to be done to make the flow look like it does.... it's amazing.

Fred Clause - I think this one is so unique, it's a perennial view. I gotta admit, I'm jealous of Vince Vaughn's dancing abilities. And Willie gettin' down is hilarious.

Out of all of those you mentioned, I would catch Ratatouille first. It should be considered one of Pixars classics imo.

Brave - Did not like. Should have been so much more, or so much different. The characters were fine, but the wrong story was told. Pixar's first folly.

Tangled - Classic. Very Aladdin-like with memorable songs, and contains the wit/humor you'd expect out of the 2000's. Fits well alongside Wreck-It Ralph as a great recent animated Disney film (Frozen does not fit with these IMO). It takes a while to get going though IMO, but after that it doesn't really let up.

Cloudy/Meatballs 2 - Haven't seen it, but I seem to remember liking the first one... the problem is how forgettable it was at the same. I'm kind of surprised a sequel was even made, but hey if it's good then good for them and us.

Ratatouille - It involves food, so I love it. It doesn't have a great hit-home message or anything, but Pixar did well with this one. The inherent flaw in this film, where I can accept that rats are able to talk to other rats, read, cook food, etc. is that a human body can be manipulated through pulling hair a certain way. That just makes no sense, and really isn't acceptable. Otherwise, look past that and you have a fun film (the food surely helps).

Yes, it certainly would have taken much longer. But you can't tell me that this wouldn't have fit so well as a cartoon instead!

            I wouldn't dare!!

Relatedly.... found this on youtube. At one point the narrator states that 250,000 celluloids were handpainted for Snow White:

There's no way Brave was Pixar's first folly when two Cars movies came out before it.

I actually saw and bought "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" on DVD. I loved the original one. The sequel was pure junk. Avoid it all costs. The sequel is nowhere near as good as the 1st one. I actually did a review for it like 10 pages ago, when I saw it.

They weren't up to Pixar's standards, but they were by no means follies. Cars 2 was thoroughly more entertaining than the first one as well, though it obviously wasn't a superior film nor was it made for the interest of anyone else other than themselves and their own greed.

Brave was a dud though, plain and simple. Couldn't get myself to re-watch it if I tried... because I have tried that. The story in place is terribly kooky, and dare I say had nothing to do with the title. Those first five minutes sure were interesting, though.

Brave is more of a Disney movie than Pixar, but Cars was boring as hell to me as an adult.

                        The Punisher : War Zone

It's so bad that it's good. Just love how strong The Punisher is in this movie that he can punch and smash your face in with one punch. It's so over the top violent that it's hilarious. I have to own this movie.

It amazes me how bad Domic West is in this movie and the acting gap from this and The Wire is astonishing.

I really really hope Netflix makes a Punisher series. Mix in with Daredevils universe and Marvel can have their own Arrow/Flash success but are able to do it uncensored.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Over the next 3 days, I plan to watch the Batman 90s movies. I am starting with the Tim Burton movie, "Batman" from 1989. After that, "Batman Returns". Then, "Batman Forever". Lastly, I will endure the torture of watching "Batman & Robin". My brother is getting his favorite one, "Batman Forever" on blu-ray for Christmas.

The order of who played Bruce Wayne/Batman went this way in these movies.

                          1. Michael Keaton
                          2. Val Kilmer
                          3. George Clooney

The main bad guys go in this order in these movies.

                          1. Jack Nicholson as the Joker
                          2. Danny Devito as The Penguin, Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, and Christopher Walken as Max Schrek
                          3. Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face and Jim Carrey as The Riddler
                          4. Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze, Uma Thurman as Poison Ivy, and Robert Swenson as Bane

LOL! I think that was a reference to that horrible Indiana Jones movie.

Late night, couldn't sleep, caught most of "Action Jackson" on Encore. I don't mind Carl Weathers(sp?), but his performance actually made me appreciate Arnold's weird comedic timing . It did have that guy from Coach in it as the main bad guy.
