I'm one of the few who actually enjoyed this when it was released, but that is a stretch and a half.

      The Interview.
Not even 'watch again for the lol' good enough like other Rogan outings I actually enjoyed (Pineapple Express, Zack and Miri).

      Snowpiercer
I was doing something else while watching this, will probably watch it again soon. Loved it for spoilery reasons I won't get into.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Let's see if I remember all the movies I've watched recently -

Whiplash - Great movie, one of my favorites of the year. Teller and Simmons had an incredible chemistry and Simmons deserves all of the praise he's getting. What a performance.

Quija - Couldn't resist watching this one. Run-of-the-mill modern horror movie. Not good, not bad.

Grand Budapest Hotel - Blah. I just don't think I'm a fan of Anderson's style. I can see why people like it, and it wasn't a bad movie, just not for me.

The Imitation Game - This one was awesome. I'm not a huge history buff so any historical inaccuracies didn;t both me. Cumberpatch is a solid actor, although most of his roles seem to be in the same vein. He did a wonderful job with Turning, though.

Taken 3 - Better than Taken 2, not as good as the original. Liam was badass as usual. Worth a watch if you enjoyed the first two.

Interstellar - While I won't call it a masterpiece or anything, it's yet another homerun by Nolan for me. Glad I finally got around to seeing it.

Fury - Solid all around movie. Some good performances and tense action scenes. Another one that's worth a watch if you enjoy war movies.

Big Hero 6 - What a great movie. Some dark themes and scenes for kids, though, but I loved it.

Birdman - Keaton's performance deserves all of the accolades and praise it's receiving, and the movie was very good and fresh, but there was just something missing for it to be my favorite of the year.

Oculus - Eh. Big fat eh.

The Drop - Watched it because of it being a Dennis Lehane story and Tom Hardy. Don't regret it, but it wasn't anything special.

Foxcatcher, Boyhood, The Gambler, and Inherent Vice are next on my list, I think. Maybe The Theory of Everything, too.

Flight of the Navigator - This was my first time seeing this. It's your classic 80's kids fantasy flick. I loved the premise, but the movie got a little drawn out toward the middle. The kid actor was great. I'm surprised that he didn't end up doing more.

The Five Year Engagement - Pretty good movie. Loved the cast. It wouldn't say it's as good as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but it still had some really funny moments.

Liked the first two seasons of The Sopranos. James Gandolfini really dominates the show unlike any TV character in any TV show I've ever seen. Relative to the current golden age of TV we're in, the Sopranos doesn't totally stand out, but relative to what was on TV in 1999 and 2000, yeah, I can definitely see why this show is one of the GOATs.
BWE is easily in my Top 5. I wasn't really happy with the last season, but I'd put seasons 2 and 3 up against any season of any show on TV including Breaking Bad (although they would all be pretty damn close). The characters and cast on BWE are second to none, I absolutely loved that show.

                  Foxcatcher.

Carell nailed the role of John du Pont IMO, but I was otherwise bored with the film. Anyways, it shined a light on a story I had never heard of until I saw it.

                    Killing Zoe (1993)
                    Directed by: Roger Avary
Starring: Eric Stoltz & Julie Delpy

I rarely see this one talked about. That is surprising considering the writer/director is the same guy who co-wrote True Romance and Pulp Fiction. Anyway, what we have here is a drug laden bank heist movie set in Paris. It's definitely worth the watch as the role of Eric (Jean-Hughes Anglade) is fantastic. Stoltz plays it close to the vest and Delpy is awesome as usual. I'm surprised Avary never went on to have much success since this one showed a lot of promise. Bonus: Ron Jeremy (yes, THAT Ron Jeremy) has a cameo as a bank executive that gets blown away with a shotgun.

                    Rating: 7/10

Took me 15 years, but I finally saw American Beauty.

Definitely a movie you have to think about a while to fully process it (so many different subtleties), if not watch a second time. All-in-all, I thought it was pretty good, although it sermonized too much on the moral emptiness of American suburbia IMO. I can understand why this appears in so many "most overrated movies" list.

Pompeii - It was about what you expect out of this kind of movie. Average action, very predictable, etc. With that said I'm a huge fan of the cast. Most of which are from my some of favorite TV shows:

Kit Harington - Game of Thrones
                        Kiefer Sutherland - 24
                        Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje - Oz
                        Jared Harris - Mad Men

Also, I found my new Hollywood crush in Emily Browning

I remember Emily Browning in A Series of Unfortunate Events, and thought that this cute little girl will blossom into a beautiful young woman. Then years later I saw her in The Uninvited, and the only thing to my dismay is she was like an Ellen Page in that she is more like a grown child. She never really did that "blossoming" that I hope she would, which is too bad. Then I saw her in Sucker Punch, and sadly the entire film was terrible but I also just didn't like her as a blonde.

Still kept a cute face, though. That's probably what matters most. And great eyes. Good call on dibs.

The Wedding Ringer. Hart and Gad are good, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting is less than a prop, and the movie isn't very good.
