I would green light the **** out of that.

That's why people should go out and see indie films or unique projects, so you can tell the studio what movies you want to see out there. It's pretty clear the public wants to see this type of film.

Got a bunch of incentives and tax breaks to film it here in Vegas too.

          Under The Cherry Moon
Yep, another Prince movie. This is fascinating on so many levels. No way a movie like this gets made today. Coming off of Purple Rain, Prince had that power and he certainly used it to get this out into theatres. Those that were expecting a Purple Rain-type film were no doubt very disappointed; Prince really only performs once in the movie and even then it's a lip-sync. Purple Rain was carried by the live performances and you get none of those here.

Some of the cinematography is cool and the black-and-white gives the film a unique feel. The wardrobe choices Prince made in this are beyond ridiculous. I mean, most fathers wouldn't let their daughters wear the stuff Prince had on and he was the male lead in the film.

The acting is better than Purple Rain, but still terrible. There's some good songs and you could tell Prince was using this film to transition past Purple Rain and was incorporating more soul/funk into his music while also touching on some classical notes.

This tied with Howard The Duck for worst film of the year in 1986. This is bad, but it's better than Howard The Duck.

Star Wars Episode IV, V, & VI

Yes, for the first time I finally watched all of the original Star Wars trilogy.

              My quick thoughts....

              - A million times better than the prequels. To me it's the pacing of each trilogy that sets them apart. Too many boring, useless things going on in the prequels whereas the originals are much more to the point and interesting.

              - "I love you" "I know" - Han Solo is a boss

              - Luke is a whiny bitch. "3-POOOOOO!" Shut the **** up.

              - I didn't realize it was going to take as long as it did for The Force and Luke becoming a Jedi to be a thing. It's basically non-existent in Episode IV, which caught me off-guard.

              - Empire didn't seem to be nearly as dark and great as people make it out to be. I might need to re-watch it though because I was pretty tired when I did see it.

              - Return of the Jedi is the best of the series

              - For movies that were released nearly, what, 40 years ago (?), they really don't seem all that dated. Albeit I was watching the remasters (I know, I know, Han shot first).

              - Every scene with Vader is money. And The Imperial March theme, just greatness. I don't think there's many things much more badass than Vader and a group of Stormtroopers rolling through with that playing.

Overall, my expectations might have been a little too high because I was expecting to be saying "Holy ****, how has it taken me this long to see Star Wars?!". That wasn't the case, but I still enjoyed all 3 movies and they're still better than a lot of movies that have come out since.

I'm glad I did get around to knocking these out in time for Episode VII because I'm looking forward to seeing it. Would have been weird to have not seen IV, V and VI going into that.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

2 Fast 2 Furious - The action isn't nearly as bombastic as the later movies nor does it have that unpolished, lack-of-funds charm that the first one did. None of the characters are as interesting as the ones in the original (including Walker), but Eva Mendez is always nice to look at and the Tyrese banter is somewhat entertaining.

                    Fast & Furious -
I feel like the series is finally to get a grip on its main action sequences and set pieces. Unfortunately the rest of the movie molds itself after 2F2F even with Dom back in the fold.

                    Fast Five -
I think this is easily the best since the original. Dwayne Johnson is magnetic and makes a highly trite anti-hero likeable and entertaining. The action sequences are bombastic and simply the type of spectacle I've wanted out of this series since 2 Fast 2 Furious. The crew, while largely undeveloped and flat, have great moments of interaction and chemistry throughout.

The Water Diviner. Pretty unique story... worth a look.

The War (1994). Rewatched for probably the 3rd time..... schmaltzy in parts and a bit tear jerking in others. Interplay of the kid characters is interesting. Lucas Black debuts as a little smart *** tough kid. He was 11 yo at the time but looked smaller.

If you haven't seen Kingman yet, check it out, you won't be disappointed. Matthew Vaughan just knows how to do action and it's beautifully very violent. Love this movie. One scene in this movie is just plain out legendary.

Furious 7. Really enjoyed it. Like how they tied end the other movies (especially Tokyo Drift which is underrated IMO) Wonderful tribute at the end.

Last night, I finally watched, The Hobbit: TBOTFA. I was not impressed. Final verdict: 4.35 dead orcs out 10.

I'm with you..... I think the LOTR trilogy outweighs The Hobbit trilogy.

                                (man, that pic is huge).
