Yeah same era or close. It's during those days when the British wore those George Washington looking wigs and when the Scottish beef with England. Just like Braveheart you'll know who the good guys are. Hint: The underdogs.

I'm not saying Rob Roy is a bad movie, I can see why some would enjoy it but in my opinion it's not on the same level as Braveheart.

Spy Game. Robert Redford and Brad Pitt star in the movie about the relationship between Redford and Pitt's characters as CIA spies. Directed by Tony Scott, really like the editing.

Saw Pitch Perfect 2 a week ago. Went by myself and it was at a 11 story theater so that was weird.

As for the movie, it was good. Not as good as the first one though. The first one is a classic.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

I just watched over the course of a couple days a series of cheap (but well made) detective films starring "Wild" Bill Elliott. These were the last films of his career. Elliott's career is a classic woulda shoulda coulda case as he was a star of a ton of B Westerns and he was poised for bigger and better things but he never quite got there unlike John Wayne who became a megastar.

Anywho, the movies were all about an hour in length and told pretty good detective stories with a strong emphasis on character building. You really get a sense of the slimy people involved in these cases. The best of these films IMO was Calling Homicide (1956) as it had the right blend of noir elements and the traditional detective film to the point that Elliott's character Lt. Flynn did first person narration. The characters involved were all pretty wretched including one of the victims who was an overly ambitious greedy woman. If you ever do search these films out that's the one you should check out.

The films were all released via WB's Archive Collection DVD-Rs. You can buy the set through WB or Amazon.

Just saw "Spy" at an advanced screening.
With Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statham among others.

It was actually pretty good and funny. Statham especially, as he more or less poked fun at himself and other movies

Showed A Beautiful Mind to my Psychology class during finals week last week. Such a fantastic movie.

Before that, I saw Voices with Ryan Reynolds on the recommendation of a friend. Crazy, F'd up movie, but oh so good. Reynolds is fantastic. Highly recommended if you're into psychology or schizophrenia.

My psychology teacher showed us A Beautiful Mind a few weeks ago, and I agree. It was an amazing movie. I was so shocked to hear about the real John and Alicia Nash passing away [emoji54]

                          Boyhood

Ran long and felt mundane in spots, but such is life at times (which was kinda the point). Biggest takeaway for me was how I felt after the screen went black at the end. All that reflection one sometimes does around a birthday, wedding, or big life event was sparked. Couldn't help but think back to my youth and relate to the film on so many levels. Like, no matter your social class growing up, most of us all felt those same things he did at certain points in the film. Trying to figure **** out and growing up ain't easy, lol.
