You can just pretend that this is a prequel to the Uncharted games, heh.

Re-watched This is 40. Thought the wife would like it, but ain't her thing. I really love Albert Brooks in this. Overall, upon re-viewing I can see some of the disjointedness of it. McCarthy's mini-role could have been better. Her verbal tirade in the principal's office could've been better. Gotta love Rudd, though.

    Favorite line:

    Spoiler
This really is disjointed, yes. Apatow has trouble editing down his films, and furthermore pacing it in a way that creates proper emotional swings and the like. People love, hate, then love each other again within ten minutes and three scenes of the film, back and forth. Scenes also find a bad way of ending, trying to find a way to get a last punch line or just awkwardly closing out a conversation.

I wish I liked this one more, considering this family was the same one I loved in Knocked Up. I guess less is more though.

Well it looks really stupid but turns out it's very clever and awesome. I would have never watched it if not for the reviews and crazy word of mouth it got...

        Sister Act
The last time I watched this was when VHS was still in along with the fashion in the movie. It takes about 10-20 minutes for the movie to get going, but once it does it has some great laughs. Plus, the reworked songs are awesome. Whoopi is great and so is Maggie Smith. We actually watched this on Saturday night completely unaware about Bill Nunn's death.

Overall this a pretty typical comedy of the 90s. The comedy star is in a "fish out of water" story and hi jinks ensue. Still, there's something charismatic and endearing about them.

        Pet Semetary
I don't know if I had actually seen this in its entirety before. There were the random SyFy channel viewings, but that's probably it. This is a pretty solid B movie. It opens itself up to some logic problems if you stop and think, but it is a movie after all.

Gage is perfectly creepy, but Zelda is what sticks with me the most.

Also, I hate seeing Herman Munster going down like that.

I watched Warcraft last night. Never played WoW, but I didn't expect much out of this movie based on things I had heard. Ended up really liking it despite not knowing anything about the lore. It wasn't nearly as hokey as I thought it might be.

Finally saw Spotlight. Very well done, extremely well acted. Infuriating subject matter but I knew that going in. One of those movies that is very good but I have no need to see it again.

                  X-Men Apocalypse

I really, really enjoyed this movie. I know it got a lot of backlash when released but I honestly don't get why people complain so much. It was a very solid flick and kept me entertained from start to finish. I love the new young cast and can't wait to see where they go next.

                  Ghostbusters

This was enjoyable as well. Not on the same level as the first 2 (#2 is my favorite) but again I was entertained and it was fun. My kids had a good time with it. Another movie that got so much backlash and I just don't get it. People are way to critical now a days with everything.

Oh and Tucker and Dale vs Evil is so freaking good. I stumbled on that when it first released to Blu Ray and thought it was fantastic.

The Beatles: 8 Days A Week - The Touring Years (Ron Howard doc)

Always like rock documentaries and being a Beatles fan thought this was a well edited effort. I could have done with less Whoopie Goldburg though.

Also, it's still mind-boggling to this day the way the young girls screamed and literally fainted when seeing them in person.

Re-listening to their earlier tracks I came to appreciate the way they started AND finished most of their songs. I'm not a musician but I would think that, like writing, a good opening and closing are difficult. Plus, the volume of music (which they touched on briefly) was amazing.

                        Super stoked to see this.

As a musician (or at least I was) I can tell you that writing beginnings is pretty easy, but ending songs well is tricky!

Was the sound for the Bowl show good, or is it drowned out in screaming? LOL

That screaming/fainting thing those guys dealt with is just nuts. I can't imagine getting that worked up over another person just..singing, or shopping or walking down the street. Those guys were practically prisoners of their own fame in those years especially.

There were only snippets of each venue. They talked about the sound at Shea Stadium being exceptionally crappy despite the 100w amps they had specially made. Ringo talked about not being able to hear anything there and essentially had to watch Paul and George's asses to figure chord changes. It was a good watch overall. The raw studio footage was pretty cool.

Was looking through the movie channels. And saw something called the 7 5. It's a documentary about the corruption in NYC's 75th district and Michael Dowd. It was alright, kinda weird to see how his partner was just so open to turning into a corrupt cop.

I watched The Forest last night.

For some reason I thought this was a critically acclaimed horror movie, which is why I was kind of shocked watching (it sucks), but then I actually checked and saw it got blasted pretty hard by a lot of sites/reviewers.

Yeah I don't think it is very good. Couple scenes were somewhat creepy but just didn't get me invested at all. Not even Natalie Dormer's epic ridiculous hotness could save this for me.

Agree on X-men. I dunno if the thread is still around but I posted a way too long rundown of why I liked that movie. I was entertained and gave it a solid 7 or something like that. I did think some of the new castings were a little bland but I dunno if that was them or just what they were given to work with. I do feel like for movies that feature powerhouses like Fassbender, Lawrence, and McAvoy they could afford to let those studs "run with it" a little more but overall I enjoyed the First Class trilogy quite a bit. Have no idea what they are gonna do next
