    The Legend of Tarzan

Or as it should have been properly named, "The Legend of Tarzan AND Samuel L. Jackson". Yes, I truly have an SLJ bias for sure. But even his supporters have got to see after this "performance" that he is essentially the same actor in just about every movie he is in. I think I could have tolerated him in this had he not had about as much impact and screen time as the supposed star himself. SLJ and Margot Robbie both seemed miscast, seemingly living anachronisms in this script. Also, the time between the showdowns seemed to take exceedingly long and then when they happened were mildly anti-climactic. Beyond that, the CGI was phenomenal and Walz pretty much does it again as the villian (though it will be hard to surpass his role in Inglorious Basterds). I would have loved to have seen more of the retrospective scenes of Tarzan and how he progressed to his throne. Overall, I still prefer Christopher Lambert and the Greystoke rendition much more, which was only limited by the technology of the time to portray more lifelike apes.

      Sully.

What a great and emotional movie. Really enjoyed it and I will definitely be buying it on blu ray.

Took me this long to finally watch Pulp Fiction. Maybe it's just how old it is now, but I didn't find it exactly great, but good for sure. It has its moments.

I don't think it's the age. I never found this movie all that appealing either. It just seemed very odd, but not in a good way for me.

i was going to watch this but thought it might be a lil boring and slow. I saw the flight movie with Denzel a few years back but that was a boring movie. Is this anything like that even though it's a different scenario?

Yep. If you liked the first, the 2nd was more of the same--bigger and flashier.

It's up to you if you like the "big twist" at the end. I didn't love it.

I'm not sure which movie you're talking about but I really enjoyed Sully. Didn't think it was boring at all.

Here were my initial impressions on it:

Probably more entertaining than the original. Now that I can submit to the fact that this franchise hit the ground running being all style and no substance, I was able to sit back and watch "magic" happen, or whatever the heck it is I was watching. Like the first one, it wants to settle in and explain every clever twist and turn that it has. I think the first film is more cohesive and a more compelling one big plot twist, but this one has great individual scenes, layered one onto another.

For the most part, it kind of plays out like a Broadway musical but without the singing: something that seems like an unrealistic set of things that happen for the sake of drama and theater. It's like the characters are playing a nice fun game together, no matter the stakes (even death). I mean really when you sit back and think about the motivations and schemes, a lot of them really don't make sense. Good thing that's not why I like these movie though.

I was disappointed that two bigger known cast members from the first film didn't appear for this one (they wrote one in as to why, and while I understand the other one probably wouldn't make much sense at all for this one I was just saddened they both weren't included). Daniel Radcliffe and Jay Chou didn't exactly fill that void as needed (plus another cast member who was also in the first film, but for spoiler reasons I won't mention the specific role I'm referring to), but I think that Lizzy Caplan was an awesome inclusion.

I dig the tricks that have more to do with practicality than theatricality, but both work just fine for me. This movie has ridiculous moments, and the writer/director are well aware of it and use it at its higher function. Don't know how much this drew in the box office, but I hope that a third one comes out for sure.
Much hasn't changed, except after RDM spoke about it after the past couple of months and I got a few more looks, there are some cheesier moments that made me go, "Eh."

It wasn't bad. I liked it a little more than the first one but its nothing ground breaking. Cool tricks and you can't go too wrong with this great cast. I did get annoyed by Lizzy Caplan's character which usually I'm a fan of hers.

If you liked the first one, then you won't be disappointed.

What I don't like (and it's not just her, it's everybody) are scenes where they are trying to get away with something and they look so obviously suspicious. Whether it was Woody Harrelson's character sneezing then doing that thing with his hat, or Lizzy Caplan's character like falling all over the place... it was just too much stuff that you see in G and PG films. I think they could have been more mature about these moments. Ocean's Twelve had the same issue when Julia Roberts' character was playing Julia Roberts.
I don't dislike it, mind you. Bought the Blu-ray. I think these films are entertaining, though I wish they were deeper than surface level.

Re-watched This is 40. Thought the wife would like it, but ain't her thing. I really love Albert Brooks in this. Overall, upon re-viewing I can see some of the disjointedness of it. McCarthy's mini-role could have been better. Her verbal tirade in the principal's office could've been better. Gotta love Rudd, though.
