I never like Movies but saw Rogue One and have to say it was fantastic.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

I'll admit that I've been short-selling ya'll on some movies that I have seen recently, not posting impressions about them as often as I normally would. Just don't have the drive. Not for writing, but the movies haven't given me the drive. Granted, they were good movies... just don't really have much to gush over either way in a critical sense, I guess.

That being said, I have recently seen Fury, The Imitation Game, The Hateful Eight, and Southpaw. I enjoyed them all.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Saw a couple movies in theaters over the holidays.

Rogue One: Great. Among my 3 favorite star wars films with V and VII. I'm down for them to keep doing these star wars stories in between the new trilogy if they are of this quality.

La La Land: Wasn't that excited to see this, as I'm not into musicals at all. But, glad I got drug to it as I thoroughly enjoyed it. Im sure it helped that I liked the cast, but I'd advise not writing it off if you are like me and don't normally like musicals.

Watched The Nice Guys last night and thought it was hilarious. Never been a huge Ryan Gosling fan but he had me rolling throughout the entire movie. Felt it was very cleverly written.

              A Most Violent Year

I remember wanting to see this after the trailer dropped online some time back. For whatever reason I forgot all about it until seeing the movie poster when browsing Amazon Prime last night.

Was just ok. Oscar Isaac was fantastic as he almost always is. Cast as a whole did a fine job, movie was shot nicely, but the story was nothing special.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Watched "Sing" with the wife and kids (13, 10, 3) and none of us liked it.
I'm not sure I've ever graded a CGI kids movie before because I don't feel like those movies are really for adults and as long as the kids like them, I don't care.
                But this movie was bad.
None of my kids liked it, and my 3-year-old wanted to leave half way thru.

The one thing I'm still confused about is what the writers wanted the Mouse (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) to be.
The character was a jerk. He made fun of everyone, bullied others, was full of himself and lied and cheated his way to pad his own pockets.
At no point in the movie did he redeem himself by becoming a better person, and the movie never did anything to make him loveable or charming. He was a straight-up, Grade-A, a'hole.
Even the girl mouse he 'scored - but only after gaining money by lying and cheating - came to his rescue in the end. Their relationship was possibly 2 min of the entire movie and suddenly she's risking her life to help him? Why?

None of my kids said they wanted to watch it again and I'm totally on board with that.
The singing portion was pretty good, but the best part of the movie - the auditions - didn't last long enough and they didn't utilize it as much as they should have.
All the entertaining auditions in the movie are seen in the commercials.
I'm not kidding when I say if you watch all the trailers, you've seen the best parts of this movie.

Watched The Autopsy of Jane Doe. Really enjoyed this. Brian Cox is good in his role.

The premise of the film was pretty unique. I give it a solid 7/10

                    The Magnificent Seven

Enjoyed this one despite not being a huge western fan. Really enjoyed Chris Pratt's character, along with Denzel...

Keeping Up With the Joneses. Not a big Zack G. fan at all, but this wasn't bad. Several largely funny moments despite seeing many in the trailer. Worth a look if you want a comedy.

I've never heard of this film. After reading the synopsis, I'm very interested.
Hopefully it comes to Netflix soon.

                        Thanks for the recommendation!

                          The Babadook

Horror films involving a creepy *** 6 year old so you it's spooky.

                          Green Room

I don't know why a movie about a punk rock band held captive at a white supremacist compound being extremely violent surprised me, but it did. Some real cringe worthy moments. R.I.P. Anton Yelchin.

The Lobster- Weirdest damn movie I think I've ever seen. Some funny parts though.

Nerve- Thought this was gonna be stupid, but strangely I enjoyed it. Mostly entertaining throughout. That'd be a cool game, if it was real.

Jason Bourne- Prolly the worst of the Matt Damon Bourne movies, better than the other one. Still entertaining.

Great flick, worth the 5 bucks it cost to buy in the ps store..

Finally got around to seeing The Hateful Eight. At this point, you pretty much know what to expect from Tarantino, and this is a Tarantino flick. That being said, I'm a fan, so of course I enjoyed it. I thought the score was really good too.

Saw Rogue One recently too. I really enjoyed it, probably as much as The Force Awakens. Even though you more or less already know the story, I still got really invested in the characters and what they were trying to accomplish. Has me looking forward even more to Episode VIII.
