Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I'm in the minority, but I thought it was highly overrated.
My opinion aside I found it funny that Hitchcock blamed the film's box failure on Jimmy Stewart being to old to play a convincing love interest for luscious Kim Novack-he was probably at least partly right. He was 50 and she was 25 but she was drop dead gorgeous and he wasn't a young looking 50.Comment

Saw Beauty and the beast last night. I enjoyed the film. The sound implementation took away from my ability to enjoy as much as I could.
In some parts of songs I couldn't understand what the characters were saying because the volume seemed to be jacked up. In combination with the Opera like pitches I missed some explanations.
Other than that the film was fine.

Just watched Central Intelligence with Kevin Hart and The Rock. Honestly, I can pretty much laugh at any Kevin Hart movie and enjoy it and this was no different. They played off of each other well. Not a great plot, but still had its funny spots.

Saw "The Belko Experiment"
Maybe I just have seen too many of the "underground" gorefest movies but this didn't bother me as much as I have heard it bothered some others. It is ultra-violent. It's very mean-spirited. By a "standard movie-goer" scale it is very very gory.
I dunno how this movie will resonate with most people. To sum it up, without spoiling anything (though there really is only one major spoiler I can think of, the trailer shows pretty much the whole premise), a bunch of people get locked into an office building and are forced to systematically kill each other off. The tag-line in the trailer is "Office Space meets Battle Royale." That is pretty spot on. In more modern terms, it's kind of like The Hunger Games if the Hunger Games had brutal close-up gore, and without the political undertones.
The movie takes place in Colombia and I like that the soundtrack is Spanish covers of popular American songs.
I appreciated that they don't beat around the bush, it pretty much gets going pretty quickly and doesn't stop, for the most part.
My score for it is probably like a 7 out of 10. It's not that creative or new, just a gorefest with solid practical effects and some humor sprinkled in.Last edited by The JareBear; 03-20-2017, 07:47 PM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Yeah, one thing about this movie from the courtship to the battlefield, there was never a dull moment.Comment

Liar, Liar Sort of a "eh, just want a good comedy" moment. Might be one of Carrey's best. The moments with his son are really touching. Speaking of which whatever happened to that kid, acting wise?
(man, this movie is 20 years old?? yikes!!)

Spoiler
From The Mirror:
Though Justin rose to fame as a child actor in films like Liar Liar and and TV shows like Boy Meets World, The Boy’s Are Back and Brother’s Keeper, he ended up rejecting a life of acting so that he could go into sports production.
It seems that sport is really where Justin’s passion lies. He now works as a producer for the Ben Maller show on Fox Sports Radio - staying strictly off camera. He leads a pretty low-key life on social media, tweeting mostly about sports.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?
I haven't actually seen this movie yet but I really want to. It's called "The Devil's Candy"
Trailer is probably NSFW

I just can't believe the main dude, the dude painting with the tats in this trailer, is this guy from movies like That Thing You Do and She's All That
Can barely recognize him.
This movie is getting really solid reviews. From what I hear its a little on the "jump scare" side but also has some really solid substance as well as far as tension, suspense, intensity.Last edited by The JareBear; 03-26-2017, 04:01 AM."Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Patriots Day.
It was a really good and emotional movie. I will say though John Goodmans fake Boston accent was annoying.

Saw CHIPS last night. It was much better than I thought it would be. Some pretty good motorcycle action scenes, but Dax Shepherd and Michael Pena had great chemistry that really made the movie work well.Comment

I think CHIPS is this decades "Old School."
Super funny, surprisingly well made, and memorable

I probably saw this movie for the first time as like a 4 year old and that line is one of the most memorable in any movie for me. Really great it's on TV so I may as well watch it kind of movie, just like Big Daddy.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

I loved CHIPs as a kid (yeah, I'm old) but figured this would be lousy. I may have to go see it now since it seems to be getting pretty good reviews.Comment
