I thought it was still a prequel to Alien?

No sorry that was a typo. Not Aliens, but Alien. This is a part of a prequel trilogy.

Pulp Fiction was pretty friggin amazing though. Samuel L. Jackson was fantastic. Pretty sick little twist there at the end. I felt for ole Marsellus in that last act though. You just don't ever imagine something like that happening to yourself, poor fella.

Any suggestions for me? I've got an off day tomorrow and I could use a flick.

Saw Alien Covenant with the wife. We enjoyed it. Like the way they tied Prometheus back into the movie. Fassenbender was excellent in his role.

Solid addition to the Alien franchise

It didn't spoil anything. There is never a reason for you to think he's faking his condition (outrageous speculation sure, but that would have been a cop-out ending). You're still good.

So, to be clear, he absolutely has a short-term memory loss condition lol.

Saw Deliverance again after I don't know how many decades. It really held up well and was probably more disturbing to watch now than when I was younger.

I got a bit enthralled with the Banjo Boy and found this small biographical site about him:

Also, it's amazing how much Ronny Cox at the time looked like David Letterman's brother!

It's a shame that that scene is what most people think about when they think about Deliverance. It's a great thriller with a lot to say. It really is an American classic.

I love that movie. But that line will live in infamy. And I always got a chuckle out of it.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

Watched HBO's The Wizard Of Lies.

                            The Madoff story. Just tragic.

Tragic to the thousands of victims who lost everything, and also....his family. The son's knew something was amiss but never really knew what their father was doing. Living a lavish life on the wallets of all his victims. They felt sick. And unfortunately for them the entire world feels they knew all along. Also his wife. She was completely naive to the scam. I really believe his family was just so caught up with his titles, his reputation, they were blind that a scam was taking place. This movie really dig's into how badly his family suffered in the aftermath of this sociopath's conviction. It also plays out how they were totally in the dark on this. Well when you live as lavishly as they did....why question it. My dad was just extremely successful.

Shame on the SEC and NASD for never even getting this rooted out. It went on for 15 years!!!! They blew it. They were numb nut morons for not investigating this further. Never had a negative year? Ever? And his clients....totally trusted him. Never questioning the investments, etc. it was incredible. Just unfathomable that he pulled off this ponzi scheme for 15 years. 65 billion dollars gone.

A fascinating film. DeNiro did a great job as Madoff.

And the aftermath keeps getting worse and worse:

The special master hired in 2012 to steer $4 billion in compensation to Bernie Madoff victims earned $38.8 million — without distributing a penny to the burned investors. The revelation came …

And here is a great article on the scheme and how the movies can't even grasp how incredible this was to pull off.

Don't mean to go off topic. But this was just insane. And I do believe his family had no clue he was a fraud. Think about it. Billions of dollars and the SEC never thought he was crooked LOL. Such a tragedy for all involved and affected.

In a way, but you can't blame them. At the time there was probably nothing like that depiction. Reynolds did overact a bit, but not William Shatner levels! But I truly did appreciate it more watching it now. Can't imagine what a real life Ned Beatty character would be going through for the rest of his life.
