Probably the biggest disappointment of the summer movies. We really enjoyed Jurassic World. Can watch that one over and over and get enjoyment from it.

Fallen Kingdom? Talk about mailing it in. Not one redeemable thing about it. No desire to ever watch it again. The worst film in the entire series by a wide margin.

Perfect quote there from Goldblum to describe the film. Just utter garbage. And that is hard to do with this franchise. And they managed to do it.

Really hoping to check that one out. Saw the trailer before Crazy Rich Asians and thought it looked very interesting.

          Mile 22

Pretty damn good movie. Very intense all the way through. Along the lines of a Black Hawk Down where it was just non stop the whole way. Wahlberg was solid (I'm a big Wahlberg fan though). Thought his take on a borderline Asperger condition was pretty good (like Affleck in The Accountant). Cohan was great (and so easy on the eyes). But honestly Uwais stole the movie for me. I know he's know for The Raid (never seen it) but this was the first time I've seen him in anything. Great performance by him. Of course Malkovich did his thing and even Rousey was pretty decent. All in all it had a good plot, moved at a steady pace, and was quite entertaining. Kept you on your toes and made you pay attention to make sure you were following what was happening. Lot's of stuff going on at the same time. Recommend for sure.

Deadpool 2, surprisingly I didn't find it nearly as good as the first one. My wife and I saw the first in theaters and loved it, couldn't stop laughing. This one felt like it was trying too hard to be funny and the overall story was very "meh." I did like Cable as a character but the story truly felt irrelevant.

            Spoiler

Overall, I have to give the movie a 6.5/10 for me.

Re: What movies have you seen recently?

A short blurb on a little 1943 flick I saw the other night called Mr. Lucky. It stars Cary Grant playing against type as a gambler looking to scam and con his way into stealing the charitable earnings of a WWII relief and supplies organization but lo and behold he falls in love with one of the women there played by Larraine Day. It's interesting to see Grant playing a tough gangster type who uses slang and such. He's decidedly a lot different than the image of him that you're used to. The chemistry he has with Day is off the charts and quite good IMO. Ms. Day came off as VERY sexy in this flick.

The only negative I could think of is that the movie just had to tack on that Hollywood happy ending. If you ever do watch it (it's available on itunes) stop the movie as soon as the flashback is over if you want the sadder ending. I like both endings but felt the first one was much better.

This was done by an actual neighbor, right? From what I saw and previously read, seems like this wasn't an act. This was his true personage on camera and off. Pretty amazing.

It was done by Yo-Yo Ma's son who actually was in a segment once with his father on Mr. Rogers' show. I've seen plenty of material over the last year or so to know that the man was truly a modern day saint in many ways. Even if you're not religious (as he clearly was) you can't deny that there was a special quality to Fred Rogers. He didn't come at you with an agenda the way we think of it. The only "agenda" he had was to teach civility and ethics. The world would be a far better place with more Fred Rogers and less cynicism.

I plan to watch the doc myself in a week or so.

Oh man was this movie awesome. Just awesome. If you like the Taken style of movie this is a must see. Jennifer Garner is such a legit action star. She's done so many goodie goodie movies over the past few years I almost forgot where she came from. Seeing her go from mommy to hardcore badass is insane. I haven't had this much fun at the theater in awhile. Just a really good, sit back and relax, enjoy yourself kind of movie. I highly recommend this. Just so good. And once more, Jennifer Garner = ****ing Badass.

Currently I have nothing else I really want to see; I'll check out The Nun in a couple of weeks, but other than that the films out have kind of hit a bit of a lull for me. Waiting for Hereditary to hit Redbox next week as well.
Saw it today. It was great and met my expectations for sure.
