Today I just dumped my Iphone a got a HTC Inspire 4G

(AT&T). This is pretty much a EVO 4G. I love it. No time to play with it today. What are some good apps to start with?

The music widget is Music Mod, which is also available on the market, but the .apk was modified to change the appearance (semi-transparent bg). The unlocker is Widgetlocker, but again used a modified apk to change the appearance. I am rooted, though I don't remember if that was necessary in order to install the custom .apks. thanks. i have a droid pro and a rom or program to root it has not come out yet. but i do have the widgetlocker

Looking into rooting my Droid X. Does anyone know details about the "eFuse kill switch"? Does it mean that I can't use custom ROMs, but can still root the phone? I don't want to brick my phone, but I am interesting rooting it, to increase performance. Thanks.

It basically means that running a custom rom requires a bootstrap. Efuze checks to make sure the rom is right and the bootstrap runs to trick that before booting the custom rom.

Does it make things more dangerous? Not really. It just made things harder to get going initially.

It is very hard to brick an Android phone. You can do it, but it is very hard to do. Most of the phones have easy exe programs you can run to root it and then flashing a new rom is as simple as copying it to the phone and running the rom manager from the market place.

Words with Friends now in Android Market. It needs a little work but the game itself is no different than iPhone version. Push notifications seem to be absent from the android version.

Scrabble. Online multiplayer. Wordfeud is a similar game and currently holds the crown for Android devices while WwF is extremely popular on iOS. Gonna give WwF for Android a shot. Hopefully it is cross-platform, and hopefully they implement push notifications.

Agreed. The whole rooting/flashing process is pretty damn easy. Do it once, then it's a peace of cake - especially with the image backups in case something goes wrong or you just don't like the latest ROM you flashed. Every Droid owner with the slightest bit of technology savvy should root their phone.

What does the rooting do?

I called Sprint today to try and get them to move up my upgrade date, and they were unwilling to budge. I can't believe it. I told them how pissed I was at HP and the whole Pre situation and how they said for so long that WebOS 2.0 was coming to current gen devices and now that it's not I feel cheated, etc.....nope. She said earliest they can give me a full upgrade is 2 weeks before the current July 1 date! Absolutely ridiculous.

I want an Evo Shift to tide me over until the next iteration of WebOS comes around.

it's cross platform. playing a game with my wife on her ipod touch and of course it shows up on my ipod touch.

WebOS will be here soon. I'd wait if I were you as it looks incredible.

It definitely is incredible and 100% my first choice because WebOS is the best OS I've ever used on anything....but I'm worried about A) my phone lasting that long and B) the support, from developers AND HP. I'm scared people just aren't going to develop after being pissed off like this. Android seems to be just so loaded with stuff, its unreal.
