I kind of cheated the system, one of the toggles is to be able to wake the device from anywhere when connected to Bluetooth. I have Bluetooth in my car and almost always am connected to my Bluetooth headphones or speakers everywhere I go.

It's not ideal but it is doable. Worst case, you hit the capacitive power button and can do it from your lock screen.

Besides that, if I'm paying what they're asking for for the 5.7" version, I'm expecting a Quad HD display. Especially at that size.

There's so many great phones out there right now but if I was looking at buying a phone right now outright, I'd be looking at either the ZTE Axon 7 or the One Plus 3.

I agree wholeheartedly. The issue is this: the reviews are out of box firmware. Asus has already updated the firmware 3 times for camera improvements. Also, none are of the special edition because Asus had some issues getting them out in the US. Mine will be delivered this week. And, unless you're heavy into vr, quad hd doesn't really create a huge difference.

Trust me, if this phone isn't what it's advertised to be, it's going right back. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is being unveiled tomorrow. It's basically a note 7 clone with better hardware and the same camera hardware as the pixel & Xperia combined.

Asus has always been very liberal with their bootloader unlock, which opens the device up to huge dev communities.

I'm enjoying it so far. Gonna have to get used to no physical home button.

Also, would anyone know how to get the music off my SD card and onto this phone? Really don't want to lose 3000 songs.

My point in bringing up the Quad HD screen wasn't for the practicality or functionality of it. Simply for the fact that phones that are cheaper than this one have a Quad HD screen so it's not unreasonable to expect one.

I personally can also tell the difference between 1080p and 1440p on a screen that size. Regardless I do agree that it's not a deal breaker...but only if the phone was priced similarly to a OP3.

I think the software update stuff is a slippery slope. Unfortunately, the way phones are reviewed, VERY rarely will a device be re-reviewed. So unfortunately, if the camera or any aspect is subpar that's the label that phone is going to wear, fairly or not.

I've heard alot of interesting things about the Xiaomi you mentioned, I'm also personally keeping an eye on the Huawei Mate 9 Pro. Alot of cool things are coming out of China these days, I just wish they wouldn't so heavily skin their phones and leave it closer to Stock Android (whatever that even means anymore with the Pixel release).

As far as I know, transferring it to your PC or laptop and then onto the new phone is the only way.

If I get a Pixel, I am torn on size. 32 or 128? I know we can put all photos and videos on the cloud and have unlimited storage, but still not sure. Rather not spend an extra $100 if not needed, but also don't want to run out of room. Although on my 64gb 6P I have like 22.20gb used. Never even gotten to 30. I dunno too much!

I read you can buy Pixel from Best Buy and insert carrier sim card and it works fine, doesn't have to be activated through Verizon.

I want the Pixel XL but seems I will have to wait a long time for it. LG V20 comes out in a few days and TMo has some decent offers up for it.

32 GB is small for me, but I don't want to stream music and I also download everything off my DVR so I can watch it offline.

So I ordered a case for my Pixel XL from Amazon on Thursday and had Prime so I get the two day shipping. Well there was a shipping issue with UPS and it got moved to Tuesday. So finally got it today and.....I ordered the wrong damn one. Got the regular Pixel case instead.

So pissed. I've been going naked with this phone for almost a week. SO I ordered the right one overnight. Should have it tomorrow. I'm tired of being scared of dropping it.

For those with a Pixel XL, can you tell me why you chose it over a Galaxy S7 Edge?

As I mentioned weeks ago in this thread, I was considering upgrading from my S5 to an S7 or a Note 7 (lol) because my screen was acting like it was going out (lots of flickering sometimes).

Well, I put the whole idea on the back burner for a bit because my S5 quit acting up. However, it started acting up again so I think I'm going to do something soon.

My thought had been to go with the AT&T Next Year plan so I can upgrade in a year (I'm assuming the S8 will be out within that time frame) and to get an S7 Edge.

But, I've started to get interested in the Pixel XL because of the comments in here and a few things I've read elsewhere. If anyone can weigh in on one versus the other (I'm a Samsung guy so I'll need more than a little convincing to abandon them) I would appreciate it.
