It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I have been looking at tvs for few weeks now. I was set on a 42" Vizio but tonight I saw a few plasmas at walmart that were very well priced. I tried to find them online at walmarts site but they didn't have them on there.

They had a 42" Sammy for $555, and 50'' Sammy for $655. I forgot to see if they were 1080p. I am pretty sure they were, but those are awesome prices if they are.

Don't worry Football, I am just like you. I am scared to death of burn in, but from what everyone says its not really an issue.

The 50 incher i'm willing to bet is 720p at under $700, but that is still a great deal on a plasma. I paid $780 out the door for mine.

          1080p in a 50 inch plasma starts around $850-900.

I'm not so worried about Burn in, I know that you really have to abuse the set to get a burn in these days, I just see some slight Image retention when turning off my set, it goes away but it's a bit annoying at times cause I look for it, but it does not at all effect viewing my set at all.

My Set is THX cinema certified and when gaming I have been playing in this mode, it's an already calibrated setting, it looks fantastic, I use it for watching HD also and movies. The THX cinema setting keeps things short and sweet, do not need to go crazy tweaking.

Watching the Duke vs. Gonzaga bball game. No motion blur to speak of. Life with a plasma is good.

yeah man, watching sports is like night and day from anything I owned. This is just one advantage of owing a Plasma I would gather.

Yep. The technology behind plasmas just make it better for fast moving content. Once this blowout is over, gonna watch some of the first season of Lost. Got the first 5 seasons on blu during the one day amazon sale for $108.

I jumped in during the 3rd season, so I've got to go back and watch seasons 1 and 2.

Wifes in a good mood. Said we can get a new tv if I want. Saw some 52' Plasma's between $800-$1,000. But I don't know what to look at. Why do you have to break it in and I can't game on it right away? Doesn't make sense go me. Do warranties as best buy coverage burn in of whatever? The iron is hot, I need to strike now. I'm tired of my 32' LCD.

Take it from me the nut case...LOL

Break in is really not necessary in new plasma's, Burn in will only happen if you abuse the set, meaning leaving a static image on the screen for days, you will see slight image retention, but it goes away very quickly, I made myself a wreck the last two week with my plasma, it download the breakin images to run, I did it for a few houes a day, not sure if it really matter or not. now I'm using my own settings. And My set looks great. Don't stress like me because it was all for nothing, I now have been gaming evey day and it's all good.

Plasmas run on gas. You want those gases to burn evenly from the start (most people say for the first 100 hrs). So you want material that constantly takes up the entire screen and doesn't have a lot of static images. Video games usually have static images (health bars, score/stat trackers, etc)

Burn-in isn't a real concern nowadays, but when you're spending close to a grand you may as well be safe than sorry. You more likely to see some image retention, which goes away pretty quickly.

Go ahead an get a set before she changes her mind.

Can't go wrong with a Panasonic plasma.

I have a LG (50 inches and 720p) and am quite happy with it. Would have gone with a Panny, but the 720p from LG had more features (USB connection, advanced video tweaks, clear voice mode, etc) than the 720p from Panasonic.

Agreed, Yes keep your screen with a full image. As for burn in, it's hard to come buy. If you just take care of your set you will be fine. Also you can game, I was very nervous too. I have had my set for about two weeks now, and I'm pretty sure I have about 100 hours or more on it. As of yesterday I'm using my own settings with my and enjoying my set like I should be. Got some great settings off of cnet.com for my set.

They Say panny is the best Plasma, but I beg to differ. I also own a 1080p 50" LG and thing the picture is awesome. Also take a look some boards about some Panny, there best set that are G10 have some issue with there greens from what I have read.

Like I have said Sports are a thing of beauty when watching. Like Gamecock said no motion blur and at all. I'm watching The Islander game and WOW.

I am glad you are enjoying your set FF. I think I have settled on plasma. I am just waiting for a check, which will hopefully be here any day. I still need to narrow it down though. Im looking to spend anywhere between $500-800. Any ideas?
