which if you have a iPhone you can use that as a hot spot and don't need 3g. Or I was wondering if you have ATT unlimited data already, will you have to pay another $30 per month to use this?

Compare the pricing. Neither have an optical drive. Battery life much better with this new device.

I was only refuting your weight issue. A MacBook Pro is only 4.4 pounds. It has good battery life and an optical drive. It can also do far more things than the iPad can do, like run alternative OSes and install non-App Store programs without jailbreaking.

But I guess that's why tech eventually evolves by making things more lightweight and just as useful?

You still arent carrying less though. Its not a phone, so I still have to keep my iphone. Its not a portable mp3 player (is anyone going to use this as an ipod because you cant fit it in your pocket)...so I cant get rid of my ipod touch. The memory makes it so I cant get rid of my laptop.

The only device I could replace is a Kindle and I can already access my Kindle books on my Ipod Touch and Iphone.

So if you'd like to discuss things point by point, I guess your argument may hold water. Sadly though, when discussing a device like this when it's an in-between, it doesn't really work.

I know 2 individuals who just sent me emails asking about buying a 64GB version. Obviously, there is a market for it.

I'm not saying there's not a market for it, in fact, I pointed out a very big reason why this thing will probably sell reasonably well.

I think we can both agree that you are not the norm. You have both and iPhone and iPod touch. That's not exactly something many people do. And you're comparing your "wants" vs. "needs." You WANT to carry your entire library of music; you don't need to.

There are those that need the display capabilities of a laptop that don't want to carry one.

I could sit here and break down why you would carry this over a laptop easily. I'm sure I don't even have to. People are just being difficult in that this isn't a laptop replacement 100%, but it isn't meant to be. Apple would kill a large portion of their business if it were.
