I don't really think it's nonsense. I think it's pretty reasonable for someone to feel bad. For example if you brought the original PS3 then a few weeks later the slim comes out, I'm sure theres going to be some disappointed that if you had waited you could of had the slim, same for the ipad 3.

If you feel this way then you need to get out of technology and find something more important in your life to care about. IMO it's totally pathetic.

The self-worth some people get from these devices is downright stupid.

Guess what - your iPad3 does today what it did 6 months ago, what it will do tomorrow and will do more in the same time frame in the foreseeable future.

Just PC heads obsessed with specs when half of them barely notice the difference when using it anyway. The same people complaining are the same ones that would say "but I barely use facetime anyway."

Samsung is dropping a new Galaxy yearly..along with a Galaxy Nexus..etc.

I think a year is reasonable. 6 months is kind of pushing it though. I think Nexuses are entirely separate from the Galaxy S Line

I agree with you, but the point is there that Apple refreshed this one way sooner than they usually do for products....

I'm 100% happy with our iPad 2 (fiancee uses it a ton for work, got it a snazzy logitech keyboard, that sucker will never be bad).

I was tempted eventually to get a smaller tablet, but now I may just hold off a while and see what Google, Amazon, and B&N put out next to blow the iPad mini out of the water.

$329 is way too expensive to compete IMO.

I'm not talking about the Mini. Heck, I don't agree there either though. They dominate the market and there's no way you could think they were going in at less than $250 yesterday. The iPod Touch alone warrants that price.

You can't say it "won't compete" then on the other hand say it well sell like crazy. People will pay the $79 premium to have access to Apple land. They do it for other devices and this will be no different.

That is true...and it will sell, but I just don't like the price lol I'm sure the mini will do well, but maybe consumers will think it's too expensive? It's possible.

I got the Logitech Ultrathin iPad keyboard, it's Bluetooth. She carries it in her work bag and uses it to take notes at home visits and stuff she does for work, so the small/light aspect is nice here. Plus the keyboard lets her set it on her lap better for how she works.

I want to go Ultrabook for her eventually, but not dropping that kind of money on anything right now.

You look at the MS Surface? I can't wait to get my hands on that.

Although I just read it won't run any desktop level apps. Highly disappointed in that. It's basically a MS iPad and everything before I read that indicated it wouldn't be.

There are going to be 2 Surface Tablets. The one coming out tomorrow is Surface RT - it is priced like an iPad $500-600 and only runs apps designed for the Windows 8 app store.

The "full" version of Surface is coming in about 3 months. Those will run ANY Windows apps. But it's going to cost like $900-1000 - priced like an Ultrabook.

Tech is my career so I'm not planning on moving on from it at all.

Name has nothing to do with it. Specs Specs Specs. I'm one of those guys that notices all the little nuisances. Gift and the curse. The mini is currently rocking a 4:3 display ratio. things like that I notice especially if I play a video with a 16:9 ratio. The differences between 6 months between the devices would matter to me even due it has minimal upgrades like a new processor, an upgrade on the front cam from the 640x480 res it had before. Those kind of things matter to me but just cause it matters to me and might not to the other person doesn't make it pathetic.

It's sad that people feel that way "for other people." Why would you care? People are enjoying their devices the same way. There is nothing you can do in the new iPad that can you can't do in the 3. When that point comes, people upgrade and move on. But to feel "bad for them?"

This whole "specs elitist" thing is just downright terrible for the tech industry. Look where that got PC manufacturers - quarterly loss after loss.

I want to let the Surface grow a bit, and maybe check out the more expensive one in next year. I could see myself paying 1000 for a tablet/laptop type device, if it's future proof enough (well, as good as tech can be)...

Mentally I'm drooling over being able to play XCom or other Steam games on a portable tablet like that. I know there are Ultrabooks, so it'll be interesting to see how those evolve with the tablet mindset as well.

As for PC Manufacturers I think it's an combination of things, I think 1 more people are building their own PCs and 2 the Tablet Market definitely took some sales away from PCs

Not me. I'm still rocking my iPod Nano from 2008. I did buy my wife an iPad2 for her birthday last year, but we have no plans to abandon that anytime soon.

The only downside to my Nano is that Apple stopped selling accessories for it. When I had to replace my armband, I wound up finding something in Sports Authority that was pretty close to what I had before. All the Apple store had were accessories for the iPhone ... I still don't get how people work out with that thing.
