    Re: The Apple iPad

So how's this for luck...on Oct. 9 I bought an Ipad 3. Well since then the ipad 4 is being released and mine will be selling much cheaper. Yesterday I called the apple store and they said they would do a trade since it was under 30 days. Of course I'm thrilled hearing that. So this morning getting my son in the car he dropped the ipad and cracked the screen. I called the store and asked since I have AppleCare plus could I pay the deductible and trade it in....answer is no...

    Unbelievable!! A bad luck day.

Edit: I guess they misunderstood me anyways. Guess the trade in was only valid if you bought in apple store not a 3rd party. Oh well

Did you ask if you could trade in your son for a new one?

Haha...he's one of the few things I wouldn't trade for anything.

Might want to think about it again, the newer model children have better resolution and CPU....

Rolled with the Kindle Fire HD over the Mini. Going to use this to do what I need to do and get an iPad 4 when I'm in the position to do so.

See if you can get a new iPad3. I had a similar issue with the iPad2 (it was cracked after I dropped it while trying to keep my dog from running away during a nasty hail storm) and the guy at the Apple store took my cracked iPad2 to the back and returned with a new, sealed iPad2. I was honest with them about what happened, and stunned that they just swapped it out.

I'm going to apple store tonight..nearest one to me is 70 miles away. I'm going to be honest and see what happens. If not I bought the insurance and will have to pay the deductible.

If I do have to pay I'm really going to press for the ipad 4 trade. I know if it was bought in store they would do it. I'm not going to lie I'm a little annoyed that I bought this and 2 weeks later they announce the 4 and have it available a week later. It's like going to a car lot and buying a new Prius 7 months in. Go home and out of the blue have Toyota announce a new one that is being released 5 months early. Your car depreciated when it left and same car lost its value and is selling for 20% less.

Not going to say not to get the new ipad, but do your research. I have an iphone and a Galaxy S3 and what I can do with android far outweighs iOS. That being said, to each his own.

                          Re: The Apple iPad

I had several minutes this afternoon to toy around with the new iPad Mini and iPad 4 at the Apple Store here in the 'Lou.

                          iPad Mini:

Definitely an eye catcher with it's sleek design, comfort, and weight. Really impressed with the overall look (love the new back)

Typing on the Mini is much swifter and easier than typing on my iPad 3.

No checker-boarding!!!! I was worried about that.

It's certainly a nice size, but I don't necessarily see it fitting comfortably in a pocket of jeans. More so a coat pocket.

I'm ready to jump on board and purchase it! Except......for the screen display. There is such a contrast now from my iPad 3 to the Mini. It's simply not as sharp. The Mini looks better of course when you enlarge the text, which is something you'll find yourself doing because the real estate is smaller. I should say that the Mini looks great at the main menu, but there's simply a noticeable difference when reading text.

All in all, quite impressive but I'm content waiting for a retina screen.

                          iPad 4:

The first thing that jumped out at me was the sharper screen. It's seems to be a smidgen clearer, brighter, sharper, etc than the 3.

Other than that, opening apps are a little faster, along with websites. The difference is rather small though imo.

It does feel a little lighter in weight, but not major by any means. More than likely, the iPad 3 and 4 weigh the same.

Nothing struck me as "I have to upgrade".

This is what is funny about people making comments like this - people who bought the 3 (myself included) have nothing to feel "bad" about. They've had a top of the line device for over half a year.

Do people feel bad for each other when they buy a TV and a newer model comes out later or it drops in price.

                            Complete nonsense and illogical.
Exactly. Also what is the big difference between the 3 and 4. The 4 is alittle faster? I never thought the 3 was slow. Same retina display on the 3. IOS6 on the 3. Plus I dont have to use that ****ty Lightning port on the 3.

I bought the three and I'm happy as hell with my choice.

This happened to me with my iPhone 4S. About two months after getting it, it fell on my hard kitchen floor and cracked. I took it to the Apple store, told them it was my fault, and asked if there was any way to fix it. The guy looked up a few things on his computer, then gave me a new phone. So I have little doubt they'd do the same with an iPad.

I've since dropped my iPad (I swear I don't normally drop things) and the corner got dinged up. Thinking about seeing if it can be "fixed" now too.

My wife just got an iPad 3 two weeks ago, and didn't open it. Now, we're returning it for a 4 and only have to drop $50 to get it.

We've had the iPad original and can't wait to see the speed and graphic updates.
