    Re: Dexter (Season 5)

I think Dex will eventually have to choose between continuing to protect/be with Lumen and being found out by Deb... the scene where Deb pieces together the female victim revenge kill angle put that imto my mind immediately. They can kill the crap out of Jordan Chase in the season finale, but that won't get Deb/Quinn (and now freakin RoboCop) off their trail.

I dunno how they'll work this one out, but I think we're getting a big fat cliffhanger at the end of this season, because this feels like a major or perhaps the final plot arc...

The show has really picked. A lot of stuff going on. A fair probability is that RoboCop and/or Quinn go bye bye in the finale.

Was able to catch Sunday's episode. You know, last season was a great season and I thought it would be difficult to top. But, I think they did it this year. I love the story. I have no idea what will happen in the last couple of episodes. Can't wait to see them!

I agree, just when I think it would be hard to top the Third Rock from the Sun Serial killer they go and one up themselves with someone far more intimidating, a serial killer with not only high intelligence and depravity but also with extreme money and extreme power. When Dexter takes him down he'll have to be awfully careful because this will be a high profile disappearance that will be looked at for years by many police departments and investigators. The stakes for him taking this guy out will be very high because one tiny mistake could mean the end of him.

              Re: Dexter (Season 5)

I disagree that this season is better than last year's. That was possibly the greatest season of any TV show I've ever seen. Trinity was just a pure badass and the relationship between him and Dexter was amazing. Then of course there was the cliffhanger/twist at the end of the season that was still one of the best TV moments to me even though it was spoiled for me before watching that season. This season has been great after a very slow start though. I'll wait to see what these last 2 episodes bring before I rank it with the other ones.

About the Jordan Chase scenario ODogg referred to; I don't think it will be a high profile disappearance because they'll pin all of the barrel girl deaths on him.

What's crazy is that there's a ton of other loose ends that will need to be tied up by the end of the season, unless they plan on carrying some things over to next season.

What happens with Quinn? What happens with Robocop? What does Robocop's findings lead to? Does the police department ever find out that Lumen is/was the 13th victim? Does Lumen get carried over to the next season or will she just end up going back home? What's with that Emily girl that is connected to Jordan? Is Deb going to start finding out things about Dexter that leads her on to what he really is?

So many questions, and I know the ones I mentioned above aren't all of them.

The thing about Deb is that I really do not think she would turn Dexter in. Assuming she was the only one to find out, I really believe that she would protect him.

I agree. I thought this even before they started planting the seeds for Deb to accept Dexter as a killer this season.

You can already see them setting it up with Deb and Dexter's talk after she killed one of the Fuentes brothers, her reaction to watching the DVDs in the last episode, and a couple other moments from this season that I'm forgetting.

I somewhat agree. The question is will it come to that by this season's end? I'm skeptical.

Rough description of how this situation (the Deb/Dex relationship_ is handled in the books.

I'm going to throw it in spoilers in case people want to read the books, but really the TV writers haven't followed/taken anything from the books aside from the Ice Truck Killer, a storyline that was drastically changed for the show itself.

Yep, seems like Deb finding out may not be the Coup de Grace many people thought it would be (haven't read the books, but I thought I remember something about Deb being his downfall in the book version). They're certainly painting it that way -- it seems like that damn Robocop and/or Quinn would be the one to pull the plug on Dex's alternate life since they both have various motives to do so that Deb lacks (Robocop to get back into the good graces of the department or whatever, and Quinn because he and Dex have had numerous run-ins).

Deb really has little reason to turn in Dex if she found out: a) because she loves him and he's always been there for her in her times of crisis, b) he could easily show her that everyone he's ever killed was a murderer/rapist/*******, to which she'd probably share the sentiments she showed after watching those DVDs etc., c) it probably wouldn't give her any professional gain, since she'd be "the serial killer cop's sister" for the rest of her existence, and d) if she finds out everything about Dexter's past and his reasoning, if anything I think she'd feel sorry for him because he's clearly damaged psychologically due to his mother's death and belongs in a psych ward over a prison... In all, it seems unlikely to me that she'd be the one to do it, at least by her own volition... if her back was totally against the wall, I can see her caving. Unless Harry really got to her with the "good cop" routine, I don't see any reason why she would tell anyone else...

Yeah, you're pretty much spot on IMO.

The only way I see Deb turning him in is if Dexter decides to turn himself in for whatever reason (like knowing someone is about to catch him and he has no way out of it) and tells Deb he wants her to be the one to do it.

Trust me. I understand what you're saying. I loved last season and also thought the finale was probably the best I had ever seen for any show. The storyline last season was awesome and John Lithgow did an award-winning job. However, I just like this season a little bit more because of the connection between Dexter and Lumen. The very last thing he says before the credits in this last episode says it all. I think the addition of Lumen's character, and the heightened anxiety of Dexter possibly being discovered by his sister and/or his peers, just takes it over the edge for me. A co-worker and I talk about show a little every day especially once we've both watched the latest episode. I don't know how many weeks we've said, "How's he going to get out of this one?" It's been a great season so far.

The thing about Quinn turning in Dexter is that Dex has seen Quinn taking money from crime scenes, so he better think twice about this. I know Dexter crimes are more severe but Quinn could do serious time for what he has done as well.

Yeah, I really don't see Quinn being the guy to do it. Personally I think he'll get killed off in the season finale, but I don't think it will be by Dexter.
